Alkali-catalyzed ring closure of pyruvoylglycine
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1951Abstract The product of the treatment of pyruvoylglycine by alkali at 25 ° has been isolated in crystalline form. The compound may exist either as the monohydrate or in the anhydrous form. The empirical composition of the anhydrous product is identical with that of pyruvoylglycine, it possesses a pK′ of 3.8 and forms a monosodium salt.

Baer Endomorphism Rings and Closure Operators
Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1978A Baer ring is a ring in which every right (and left) annihilator ideal is generated by an idempotent. Generalizing quite naturally from the fact that the endomorphism ring of a vector space is a Baer ring, Wolfson [5; 6] investigated questions such as when the endomorphism ring of a free module is a Baer ring, and when the ring of continuous linear ...

Integral closure of some co-ordinate rings
Journal of the Australian Mathematical Society, 1975In this paper, some methods are developed for obtaining explicitly a basis for the integral closure of a class of coordinate rings of algebraic space curves. The investigation of this problem was motivated by a need for examples of integrally closed rings with specified subrings with a view toward examining questions of unique factorization in them. The

Valuation Rings and Integral Closure
Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1990AbstractA famous theorem of Krull's is that the integral closure of an integral domain D is the intersection of the valuation domains that contain D. An example is given to show that the same result need not hold for the integral closure of a ring with zero divisors.
