Photorefractive ring oscillators

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1995
We consider the theory of photorefractive ring oscillators, using our unified solution method. Both unidirectional and bidirectional ring resonators are analyzed, based on the two-wave mixing process with crossed polarization and the four-wave mixing process with parallel polarization in photorefractive crystals.

Statistical analysis for the oscillation frequency of a ring oscillator

2010 IEEE International Conference of Electron Devices and Solid-State Circuits (EDSSC), 2010
It is important to find the statistical characteristics of the ring oscillators in mass production but the computational complexity prevents us from finding the distribution of these characteristics. Consequently, predicting the statistical parameters of these characteristics is much more practical.

The behavior of rings of coupled oscillators

Journal of Mathematical Biology, 1985
Coupled oscillators in a ring are studied using perturbation and numerical methods. Stability of waves with nearest neighbor weak coupling is shown for a class of simple oscillators. Linkens' model for colorectal activity is analyzed and several stable modes are found.

Gigahertz Integrated Graphene Ring Oscillators

ACS Nano, 2013
Ring oscillators (ROs) are the most important class of circuits used to evaluate the performance limits of any digital technology. However, ROs based on low-dimensional nanomaterials (e.g., 1-D nanotubes, nanowires, 2-D MoS2) have so far exhibited limited performance due to low current drive or large parasitics.

A crystal-based digital ring oscillator

Proceedings. 2003 IEEE International Conference on Field-Programmable Technology (FPT) (IEEE Cat. No.03EX798), 2003
A 0.16 mW, 2.3 Volt multi-channel digitally controlled oscillator (MDCO) core is designed in a 0.6 micron CMOS process and its prototype design is mapped on an Altera FPGA that can be used for clock recovery applications. This architecture is suitable for digital wireless and cable transceivers that use different bands for transmit and receive modes ...

A Highly Flexible Ring Oscillator PUF

Proceedings of the 51st Annual Design Automation Conference, 2014
Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) is one of the most promising hardware features that can be utilized to improve system security. Ring Oscillator (RO) PUF captures the delay difference of a pair or a group of ROs introduced during fabrication process and defines PUF secrecy based on such difference.

A Study of Injection Locking in Ring Oscillators

2005 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2005
The paper presents an analysis of the injection locking phenomenon in CMOS ring oscillators. Adler's equation in injection locking is proved for a three-stage ring oscillator and the behavior of this kind of oscillator in the locked condition with respect to phase noise and jitter reduction has been analyzed.

Improving the Robustness of Ring Oscillator TRNGs

ACM Transactions on Reconfigurable Technology and Systems, 2010
A ring oscillator-based true-random number generator design (Rings design) was introduced in Sunar et al. [2007]. The design was rigorously analyzed under a simple mathematical model and its performance characteristics were established. In this article we focus on the practical aspects of the Rings design on a reconfigurable logic platform and ...

Nonlinear analysis of ring oscillator circuits

Proceedings of the 2010 American Control Conference, 2010
Using nonlinear systems techniques, we analyze the stability properties and synchronization conditions for ring oscillator circuits, which are essential building blocks in digital systems. By making use of its cyclic structure, we investigate local and global stability properties of an n-stage ring oscillator.
