Self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) are promising hole‐transporting materials for organic photovoltaics (OPVs), but suffer from self‐aggregation and poor large‐area uniformity. We find that interfacial modification using nicotinic hydrazide can eliminate the residual SAM aggregates by forming energetically favorable complexes, yielding uniform SAM.

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.

Resonance splitting in gyrotropic ring resonators
Optics Letters, 2010We present the theoretical concept of an optical isolator based on resonance splitting in a silicon ring resonator covered with a magneto-optical polymer cladding. For this task, a perturbation method is derived for the modes in the cylindrical coordinate system. A polymer magneto-optical cladding causing a 0.01 amplitude of the off-diagonal element of

Ringing phenomenon of the fiber ring resonator
Applied Optics, 2007A resonator fiber-optic gyro (R-FOG) is a high-accuracy inertial rotation sensor based on the Sagnac effect. A fiber ring resonator is the core sensing element in the R-FOG. When the frequency of the fiber ring resonator input laser is swept linearly with time, ringing of the output resonance curve is observed.

All-fiber ring resonators using ultra low loss directional couplers have been fabricated with finesse as high as 500. Resonator finesse is no longer limited by coupler loss and can be increased by lowering fiber loop loss. New polarization effects in the resonator have been observed indicating polarization dependent coupling in the directional coupler.

A ring resonator composed of a plasmonic waveguide is presented. For the plasmonic waveguide, an array of silver nanorods is assumed. To determine the modes of this ring resonator, the generalized multipole technique (GMT) is used. Using this analysis, we obtain various modes of the proposed ring resonator.

We report on our study of a temperature response of ring resonator based sensors and their interchangeability over a wide temperature range. Our results suggest that with a proper fabrication process control the interchangeability in photonic thermometers can be on a 0.2 °C tolerance band.
