Photonic Crystal Ring Resonators and Ring Resonator Circuits

2010
We present the characteristics and applications of photonic crystal ring resonators (PCRR). Photonic crystal confinement can achieve very high cavity quality factor ring resonators. Diffraction-limited ultra-compact PCRRs are feasible due to the absence of size-dependent losses.

Plasmonic ring resonators

CAS 2011 Proceedings (2011 International Semiconductor Conference), 2011
This work presents the investigation of the interplay between two different types of losses in plasmonic ring resonators: i) the losses associated with the finite curvature radius and ii) the ohmic losses associated with the penetration of the electromagnetic fields inside the metal.

Ring Laser Resonators

2020
The ring cavity gives flexibility in resonator design, such as ability to incorporate long collimated beam sections with large beam diameters in order to extract power from large volumes of laser media. Particular attention is paid to the non–planar ring resonator because of its novel features and importance in recent applications in the ring laser ...

Integrated Non Reciprocal Ring Resonators

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
We present the theoretical concept of an optical isolator based on a resonance splitting in a silicon ring resonators covered by a magneto-optical polymer cladding. A polymer magneto optical cladding causing a 0.01 amplitude of the off-diagonal element of the dielectric tensor is assumed.

Semiconductor Nanowire Ring Resonator Laser

Physical Review Letters, 2006
Nanowires of the wide band-gap semiconductor gallium nitride (GaN) have been shown to act as room-temperature uv lasers. Recent advances in nanomanipulation have made it possible to modify the shape of these structures from a linear to a pseudoring conformation.

Series coupled microwave ring resonators

2011 IEEE International Conference on System Engineering and Technology, 2011
An odd number of one-wavelength ring resonators are proposed to be directly series-connected along a quarter-wavelength of their sides to exhibit a bandpass response with very high rejection level. As each ring presents a dual-mode response, the order of the overall bandpass response will be equal to two times the number of rings being used ...

Resonant Frequency of Slotted Ring Resonator

30th European Microwave Conference, 2000, 2000
The slotted ring resonator has some promising features for the realisation of compact microwave filters. For the first time, using the finite difference technique and conformal mapping method, the effects of geometrical parameters (i.e.: the resonator length, inner radius, gap width and wall thickness) on the resonant frequency of this resonator, are ...

Athermal Silicon Ring Resonators

Integrated Photonics Research, Silicon and Nanophotonics and Photonics in Switching, 2010
We demonstrate athermal amorphous Si (a-Si) ring resonators using a top polymer cladding. We observe near complete thermo-optic (TO) compensation, and a temperature dependent resonant wavelength shift (TDWS) as low as 0.5 pm/K is achieved.

An unstable ring resonator

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1973
An unstable ring resonator has been studied, both theoretically and experimentally; quasi-traveling-wave operation is obtained with a high ratio of the powers of the two opposite rotating waves and with diffraction-limited output beams.
