Tunable fractional-order photonic differentiator based on the inverse Raman scattering in a silicon microring resonator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A novel photonic fractional-order temporal differentiator is proposed based on the inverse Raman scattering (IRS) in the side-coupled silicon microring resonator.

Design of passive ring resonators to be used for sensing applications [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2009
In this paper we report on the effects of two optical beams counterpropagating in a passive ring resonator that is the building block of several devices in a lot of sensing applications. By using the transfer matrix method in combination with the coupled

Nanofiber-segment ring resonator

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2016
We describe a fiber ring resonator comprised of a relatively long loop of standard single-mode fiber with a short nanofiber segment. The evanescent mode of the nanofiber segment allows the cavity-enhanced field to interact with atoms in close proximity to the nanofiber surface. We report on an experiment using a warm atomic vapor and low-finesse cavity,

Resonance splitting in nonuniform ring resonators

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1972
The frequency response of a microstrip ring resonator with small terminal couplings is discussed. For resonators consisting of nonuniform lines, there is shown to be resonance splitting in the transfer function.

Advancing frequency fine-tuning: a theoretical approach to a novel metamaterial-inspired Bi-layer resonator

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2023
This study presents a novel adjustable device designed for precise frequency tuning within the S-band of the microwave spectra. In addition to the geometrical design and dielectric behavior of the resonator, this study identifies an influential governing

Ring Resonators with Sagnac Loops for Photonic Processing in DWDM Backbone Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, optical configurations based on ring resonators (RR) with an internal Sagnac (SG) loop in the feedback path, are analyzed in terms of their amplitude response and dispersive properties for filtering and chromatic dispersion managing in ...

On the resonances and polarizabilities of split ring resonators

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2005
In this paper, the behavior at resonance of split ring resonators (SRRs) and other related topologies, such as the nonbianisotropic SRR and the broadside-coupled SRR, are studied. It is shown that these structures exhibit a fundamental resonant mode (the quasistatic resonance) and other higher-order modes which are related to dynamic processes.

Characterizations of Effective Parameters and Circuit Modeling of U-Coupled Hybrid Ring Resonator Band Pass Filter

open access: yesIEEE Access
A two-port symmetrical, reciprocal, U-shaped mutually coupled hybrid ring resonator for ISM, L-band, and S-band applications is presented. The designed resonator is novel with a hybrid ring which comprises a square ring, a circular ring, and two U-shaped

Design and Development of Ultrabroadband, High-Gain, and High-Isolation THz MIMO Antenna with a Complementary Split-Ring Resonator Metamaterial

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
The need for high-speed communication has created a way to design THz antennas that operate at high frequencies, speeds, and data rates. In this manuscript, a THz MIMO antenna is designed using a metamaterial.

Self-Referencing Fiber-Optic Intensity Sensors Using Ring Resonators and Fiber Bragg Gratings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
An improved ring resonator self-referencing technique in a new reflection configuration for remote fiber-optic intensity sensors is demonstrated using fiber Bragg gratings. Sensor sensitivity doubles and a single fiber lead is used.
