Superradiant instability of large radius doubly spinning black rings

open access: yes, 2006
We point out that 5D large radius doubly spinning black rings with rotation along S^1 and S^2 are afflicted by a robust instability. It is triggered by superradiant bound state modes.

Diffusion‐Weighted Imaging for the Evaluation of the Sacroiliac Joint in Pediatric Patients

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Maturational signal in the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) of skeletally immature youth is often misinterpreted as inflammation. Diagnostic tools that improve specificity are greatly needed. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values from diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI), when used with standard imaging, may enhance diagnostic accuracy.

Differential Item Functioning on the Patient Health Questionnaire‐8 by Disease Subtype, Language, Sex, and Age among People with Systemic Sclerosis: A Scleroderma Patient‐centered Intervention Network Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Somatic items used in depression assessments can potentially overlap with symptoms related to physical illness, including systemic sclerosis (SSc). No studies have looked at whether somatic depression items may be influenced by diffuse versus limited SSc disease subtypes, which are associated with varying degrees of symptom presentation.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Headache and Central Positioning Vertigo in a Middle Aged Female-a Case of Solitary Cerebellar Tuberculoma Involving Left Cerebellar Hemisphere

open access: yesTürk Nöroloji Dergisi, 2012
A 48 year old female presented with headache and an illusory sensation of spinning of head in respect to environment for last 8 weeks. Her head spinning or vertigo had no particular direction or not precipitated by any specific head posture.

Trace Nickel Activated Biphasic Core‐CuOii/Shell‐CuOi Secondary Microspheres Enable Room Temperature Parts‐Per‐Trillion‐Level NO2 Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An idea of designing novel sensors is proposed by creating appropriate Schottky barriers and vacancies between isomorphous Core‐CuOii/ Shell‐CuOi secondary microspheres and enhancing catalytic and spill‐over effects, and electronegativity via spontaneous biphasic separation, self‐assembly, and trace‐Ni‐doping.

Plasmarings as dual black rings

open access: yes, 2007
We construct solutions to the relativistic Navier-Stokes equations that describe the long wavelength collective dynamics of the deconfined plasma phase of N=4 Yang Mills theory compactified down to d=3 on a Scherk-Schwarz circle and higher dimensional ...

Nitride‐Reinforced Metal Matrix Nanocomposite Powders Production by Plasma‐Assisted Thermochemical Treatment of Intermetallic Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes a new methodology for producing metal matrix nanocomposites in the solid state. The process involves the plasma‐assisted thermochemical treatment of metallic alloy powders. As a proof‐of‐concept, TiN nanoparticles are synthesized directly on the surface of FeTi intermetallic powder particles, enabling the development of the ...

Hydrodynamic orienting of asymmetric microobjects under gravity

open access: yes, 2008
It is shown that nonsymmetric microobjects orient while settling under gravity in a viscous fluid. To analyze this process, a simple shape is chosen: a non-deformable `chain'. The chain consists of two straight arms, made of touching solid spheres.

Spinning Tension on Ring Spinning Frame

open access: yesJournal of the Textile Machinery Society of Japan, 1958
The purpose of this study is to devise a practical method to reduce tension variation on the ring spinning frame by measuring spinning tension. The results of the study are summarized as follows: (1) The variable speed drive of spindles is useful for reducing the tension variation for chases in which the winding angle varies during the vertical motion ...
