Rip Current Spacing as an Eigenvalue

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1978, 1978
Mass, momentum and wave action conservation laws, including the radiation stress, are used to obtain a rip current spacing as an eigenvalue. A coastal region is divided into two parts: offshore region and surf zone separated by a breaker line. Only the case of normal incidence of the waves is considered.

Numerical study on generation mechanism of rip current at Haeundae beach, Korea

open access: yes, 2014
Haeundae beach is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Busan, Korea and, every year, millions of people have been visiting the beach. Recently, however, a rip current accident has been continuously observed in the middle of the beach and rescue ...

Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (dECM) in Tendon Regeneration: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (dECM) offers a promising solution by replicating the native tendon microenvironment and promoting regeneration. This review highlights advances in the decellularization methods, as well as their integration with emerging technologies and translational progress in tendon tissue engineering.

Rip-Current and Coastal Topography

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1976, 1976
At the 1974 Conference on Coastal Engineering (Copenhagen), the -writer proposed a new theory on the mechanism of generation of ripcurrent and cuspidal coast that the alongshore homogeneous structure of wave field and movable sedimental bottom (that is two-dimensional wave setup and bottom topography) is unstable to a small perturbation, the motive ...

Non-hydrostatic modeling of wave transformation and rip current circulation : A case study for the Haeundae beach, Korea

open access: yes, 2014
Haeundae beach in Busan is one of the most popular places in South Korea. But there is also a danger by occurrence of irregular fast moving rip current. To investigate a dominant mechanism of rip current in this area, the numerical simulation was carried

Modular Control of PEG‐Poly(2‐Oxazoline) Co‐Assembly Enables Tunable Aggregate Properties for Intraocular Pressure Management

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Monitoring rips, hazards and risk on beaches

open access: yes, 2010
Rip currents are the major cause of beach rescues and drowning in beach-going countries. In Australia they are responsible for 95% of surf rescues and most surf drownings.

Rip current occurrence probability at selected recreational beaches along Pahang coastline [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Pahang beaches draw more than thousand visitors throughout the year. From the year 2006 to 2018, more than 30 drowning and near-drowning cases were recorded mainly from rip currents.
