Tunable Bioresorbable Scaffolds With Marine Sulfated Polysaccharides for Small‐Caliber Vascular Grafts: A Multi‐Layered Strategy Combining Electrospinning and 4‐Axis Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A multilayered small‐caliber vascular scaffold combining electrospinning and 4‐axis printing is developed and biofunctionalized with marine sulfated polysaccharides from Holothuria tubulosa. The resulting construct exhibits enhanced hemocompatibility, tunable mechanical properties, and supports endothelial and smooth muscle cell adhesion and ...

Beach cusps and inner surf zone processes: growth or destruction? A case study of Trafalgar Beach (Cádiz, Spain)

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2010
Large beach cusps (LBC, wavelength of ~ 30 m) are intertidal features that can alternately exist in the swash and in the inner surf zone due to tidal sea level changes. They have a larger cross-shore extent (up to 50 m) than traditional cusps.

The El Masnou Infralittoral sedimentary environment (Barcelona province, NW Mediterranean Sea): morphology and Holocene seismic stratigraphy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A detailed analysis of the morphology and the Holocene seismic and sequence stratigraphy and architecture of the infralittoral sedimentary environment of the El Masnou coast (Catalonia, NW Mediterranean Sea) was carried out using multibeam bathymetry and

Ion‑Mediated Structural Engineering of Hydrogel Interfaces for Tunable Mechanical and Analyte Diffusion Properties in Electrochemical Biosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An ion‐mediated structural engineering strategy enables versatile modulation of PVA–Alginate hydrogel microstructure. We systematically examine how different ion combinations affect hydrogel mechanical properties and analyte diffusivity. Applying this novel strategy to hydrogel as the outer membrane in an electrochemical glucose biosensor allows ...

Box2Rip: Instance Segmentation of Amorphous Rip Currents via Box-Supervised Learning

open access: yesIEEE Access
Rip currents are hazardous offshore water flows that significantly threaten swimmers and bathers, pulling them away from the shore at velocities up to $2.4\ ms^{-1}$ .

RIP CURRENTS AND THEIR CAUSES

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1978
"The outworn dogmas of science seem to be particularly concentrated in the discussions of the ocean in geology books". Beginning with this controversial statement, F. P. Shepard in 1936 tried to lay to rest the concept of the undertow, which had been debated in the pages of Science for over a decade.

Water waves overtopping over barriers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A numerical and experimental analysis of the wave overtopping over emerged and submerged structures, is presented. An original model is used in order to simulate three-dimensional free surface flows.
