The generation and stabilization of rip - current circulation patterns is considered herein. An analytic model is developed to simulate the wave hydrodynamic processes in the nearshore zone, strongly influenced by the local bottom topography. The wave induced nearshore circulation pattern is computed and the results compared to prototype field data.

Growth-Induced In-Plane Uniaxial Anisotropy in V$_{2}$O$_{3}$/Ni Films
We report on a strain-induced and temperature dependent uniaxial anisotropy in V$_{2}$O$_{3}$/Ni hybrid thin films, manifested through the interfacial strain and sample microstructure, and its consequences on the angular dependent magnetization reversal.

Structures and Ribosomal Interaction of Ribosome-Inactivating Proteins
Ribosome-inactivating proteins (RIPs) including ricin, Shiga toxin, and trichosanthin, are RNA N-glycosidases that depurinate a specific adenine residue (A-4324 in rat 28S ribosomal RNA, rRNA) in the conserved α-sarcin/ricin loop (α-SRL) of rRNA.

Foliations for solving equations in groups: free, virtually free, and hyperbolic groups [PDF]
We give an algorithm for solving equations and inequations with rational constraints in virtually free groups. Our algorithm is based on Rips classification of measured band complexes.

Sibling gender dynamics and childhood stunting in Ghana
Background Stunting remains a public health concern in sub-Saharan Africa. Despite the evolving awareness of the effect of family composition on child health outcomes, the influence of sibling gender on stunting has seldom been consistent.

Derivation, characterization, and stable transfection of induced pluripotent stem cells from Fischer344 rats. [PDF]
The rat represents an important animal model that, in many respects, is superior to the mouse for dissecting behavioral, cardiovascular and other physiological pathologies relevant to humans.

Antiviral Activity of Ribosome-Inactivating Proteins
Ribosome-inactivating proteins (RIPs) are rRNA N-glycosylases from plants (EC 3.2.2.22) that inactivate ribosomes thus inhibiting protein synthesis. The antiviral properties of RIPs have been investigated for more than four decades.

An old puzzle in the field of cell death was solved recently: the mysterious embryonic lethality of animals deficient in caspase-8 or Fas-associated death domain (FADD), proteins involved in a pathway of apoptosis. This lethality is caused by a failure to develop the yolk sac vasculature rather than a lack of apoptosis.

Objective Australian evidence on lived and care experiences of chronic musculoskeletal shoulder pain (CMSP), irrespective of disorder classification or disease, is limited. However, such evidence is important for person‐centered care and informing local service pathways and care guidelines or standards.
