Microbial risk assessment modeling for exposure to land-applied class B biosolids

2021
Biosolids has been used as a soil amendment to enhance agricultural production. While providing benefits to agriculture, land application of biosolids may introduce pathogens into the environment and present human health risks. There have been several studies on the link between land-applied biosolids and human health.

A Hybrid Latent Class Analysis Modeling Approach to Analyze Urban Expressway Crash Risk

Accident Analysis & Prevention, 2017
Crash risk analysis is rising as a hot research topic as it could reveal the relationships between traffic flow characteristics and crash occurrence risk, which is beneficial to understand crash mechanisms which would further refine the design of Active Traffic Management System (ATMS).

GARCH-class models estimations and value-at-risk analysis for exchange rate

International Journal of Monetary Economics and Finance, 2011
In this paper, we focus on three daily exchange rate returns dynamics. Indeed, we have assessed five GARCH-class models under three alternative distributions. Our findings confirm that the skewed Student-t FIAPARCH model performs very well. Then, we have computed short and long Value-at-Risk and Expected Shortfall based on AR (1) – FIAPARCH under ...

The maximum surplus before ruin for two classes of perturbed risk model

Applicable Analysis, 2017
In this paper, we consider the distribution of the maximum surplus before ruin in a perturbed risk model with two independent classes of risks, in which both of the two inter-claim times have phase-type distributions. We obtain the integro-differential equations for the distribution of the maximum surplus before ruin.

Risk-sensitive control under a class of denial-of-service attack models

Proceedings of the 2011 American Control Conference, 2011
In this paper, we consider the problem of risk-sensitive control under a class of Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack strategies and derive a solution for the optimal control policy when the attacker jams randomly the control packets in the system. For a discrete-time partially observed stochastic system with an exponential running cost, we provide a ...

Credit Risk Modelling in Markovian HJM Term Structure Class of Models with Stochastic Volatility [PDF]

open access: possible
Empirical evidence strongly suggests that interest rate volatility is stochastic and correlated to changes in interest rates. In addition, the intensity process has been shown to generate heavy-tailed behavior and this has been attributed to stochastic volatility.
