Assessing the environmental risks of sulfonylurea pollutants: Insights into the risk priority and structure-toxicity relationships

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Sulfonylureas are widely used herbicides globally; however, the health risks associated with exposure to these compounds are poorly understood. This study used fuzzy clustering to categorize 44 sulfonylurea compounds into three risk priority levels (I ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Risk Evaluation in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis Based on D Numbers Theory

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computers Communications & Control, 2019
Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is a useful technology for identifying the potential faults or errors in system, and simultaneously preventing them from occurring. In FMEA, risk evaluation is a vital procedure.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Queue Length Asymptotics for Generalized Max-Weight Scheduling in the presence of Heavy-Tailed Traffic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the asymptotic behavior of the steady-state queue length distribution under generalized max-weight scheduling in the presence of heavy-tailed traffic. We consider a system consisting of two parallel queues, served by a single server.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Development of a risk score for colorectal cancer in Chinese males: A prospective cohort study

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2020
To build a simple predictive model as a guide to stratify average‐risk population for colonoscopy examinations. We collected data from 92 923 males without a prior history of cancer enrolled in the Kailuan Cohort Study of China.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Advancing sustainable shipbuilding through a hybrid risk prioritization model: integrating FMEA and machine learning

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal
Effective risk management is critical in modern shipbuilding, where production complexity continues to grow. Traditional Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), despite its widespread use, often lacks objectivity and scalability. This study introduces
