Mortality and Survivors' Consumption [PDF]
In developing countries illness shocks can have a severe impact on household income. Few studies have so fare examined the effects of mortality. The major difference between illness and mortality shocks is that a death of a household member does not only

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Uncertainty-Driven Reliability Analysis Using Importance Measures and Risk Priority Numbers
Uncertainty is a key factor in the reliability assessment of complex engineering systems, especially when they operate under variable conditions that affect component degradation. This study presents a framework for the systematic and uncertainty-based prioritization of critical components and failure modes.

Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

The knowledge, the will and the power : a plan of action to meet the HIV prevention needs of Africans living in England [PDF]
The Knowledge, The Will and The Power is a statement of what we, the NAHIP Partners, plan to do to prevent HIV transmissions occurring during sexual activity among the diverse population of Africans living in England (Chapter 1). We describe the size and

Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Science, Values, and the Priority of Evidence [PDF]
It is now commonly held that values play a role in scientific judgment, but many arguments for that conclusion are limited. First, many arguments do not show that values are, strictly speaking, indispensable.
