From Failure Analysis to Manufacturing-Informed Reliability: Comparative FMEA of EHB and EMB Brake-by-Wire Systems

open access: yesMachines
This study presents a comparative Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) of electro-hydraulic braking (EHB) and electro-mechanical braking (EMB) systems within brake-by-wire architectures.

Mortality and Survivors' Consumption [PDF]

open access: yes
In developing countries illness shocks can have a severe impact on household income. Few studies have so fare examined the effects of mortality. The major difference between illness and mortality shocks is that a death of a household member does not only

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Uncertainty-Driven Reliability Analysis Using Importance Measures and Risk Priority Numbers

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Uncertainty is a key factor in the reliability assessment of complex engineering systems, especially when they operate under variable conditions that affect component degradation. This study presents a framework for the systematic and uncertainty-based prioritization of critical components and failure modes.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

The knowledge, the will and the power : a plan of action to meet the HIV prevention needs of Africans living in England [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The Knowledge, The Will and The Power is a statement of what we, the NAHIP Partners, plan to do to prevent HIV transmissions occurring during sexual activity among the diverse population of Africans living in England (Chapter 1). We describe the size and

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Risk detection and assessment of hospital waste management and approaches for risks reduction in children\'s medical center hospital using failure mode and effects analysis

open access: yesسلامت و محیط, 2017
Background and Objective: The failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is one of risk assessment techniques. The aim of this study was to identify, assess and prioritize the risk associated with the process of medical waste management using the FMEA ...

Science, Values, and the Priority of Evidence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
It is now commonly held that values play a role in scientific judgment, but many arguments for that conclusion are limited. First, many arguments do not show that values are, strictly speaking, indispensable.
