Shape Matters: Unlocking Transport Histories in Fine‐Grained Aeolian Sediments With Endmember Modeling of Size–Shape Distributions

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The transport medium, mode, energy, and distance are recorded in the grain‐size and grain‐shape distributions in a sedimentary deposit. While grain‐size analysis has long been used in sedimentology, grain‐shape analysis is increasingly recognized as a valuable tool for reconstructing sedimentary processes and palaeoenvironments.

Predictors of Atrial High‐Rate Episodes and Inappropriate Device Therapy in Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 71-81, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) therapy can prevent sudden cardiac death, but poses a risk of inappropriate device therapy (IDT), which is linked to worse outcomes and reduced quality of life. On the other hand, ICDs can function as an early warning system for atrial arrhythmias.

Measuring Precise TFP Growth Under Trade Liberalisation: Stripping Away Omitted Price Bias and Demand Shocks

open access: yesThe World Economy, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 321-345, February 2026.
ABSTRACT We address two important sources of bias that remain unaccounted for in most analyses of firm‐level productivity and trade policy; that is, omitted output price bias and demand shocks. Using firm‐level data that includes product‐level price and physical output measures, we mitigate the omitted output price bias typically encountered when using

Is the risk-return paradox still alive? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
To date, the validity of empirical Bowman's paradox papers that employ mean-variance approach for testing the risk/return relationship are inherently unverifiable and their results cannot be generalized.

A Comprehensive Overview of Investments and Human Resource Capacity in African Agricultural Research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Increased use of (relatively abundant) land, rather than improved technical efficiency, has been the main driver of agricultural production growth in Africa south of the Sahara (SSA) over the past five decades.

The Use of Pre-Chemoradiotherapy Total Masseter Muscle Volume as a Novel Predictor of Radiation-Induced Trismus in Locally Advanced Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Patients

open access: yesTomography
Background: We sought to determine whether pretreatment total masseter muscle volume (TMMV) measures can predict radiation-induced trismus (RIT) in patients with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC) receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy (C-

Representational information: a new general notion and measure\ud of information [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In what follows, we introduce the notion of representational information (information conveyed by sets of dimensionally defined objects about their superset of origin) as well as an\ud original deterministic mathematical framework for its analysis and ...

Response to Initial Therapy of Differentiated Thyroid Cancer Predicts the Long-Term Outcome Better than Classical Risk Stratification Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2014
Objective. Although differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) usually has an indolent course, some cases show a poor prognosis; therefore, risk stratification is required.
