Formation and Characterization of Insoluble Anthocyanins‐λ‐carrageenan Biopolyelectrolyte Complexes: Structural Morphology, Thermal Stability, and Release Dynamics

open access: yesChemFoodChem, EarlyView.
Insoluble biopolyelectrolyte complexes formed between blackberry anthocyanins and λ‐carrageenan are investigated. Optimal complexation occurs at low carrageenan ratios and acidic pH, producing porous hydrogel‐like structures with enhanced thermal stability.

Reasons for student non-attendance at lectures and tutorials : an analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Recent QAA/HEFCE policy documents have shown that student non-attendance at lectures is an area for concern (Morgan, 2001). However, an analysis of the literature appears to indicate that little research has been completed to determine the fundamental ...

On the Role of Linker Fluorination in the Adsorption‐Induced Structural Response of CeIV‐Based Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The effect of the degree of fluorination of the organic linker on the adsorption behavior of MIL‐140A(Ce) is systematically investigated with a combination of experimental techniques. Cooperative adsorption is switched off in less fluorinated frameworks, as a result of reduced steric hindrance around the adsorption sites.

Performance comparison of pressure swing adsorption and amine‐based absorption for synthesis gas purification

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Comparison of PSA and amine‐based absorption for syngas purification shows that PSA offers lower energy intensity, global warming potential, and minimum selling price, making it a more sustainable option. However, absorption achieves higher syngas purity. A GREENSCOPE‐based multi‐criteria assessment guides optimal process selection.

First‐Line Osimertinib in Patients with EGFR‐Mutant Advanced Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer: Outcome and Safety in the Real World: FLOWER Study

open access: yesThe Oncologist, EarlyView., 2021
Abstract Lessons Learned Osimertinib has confirmed effectiveness in this real‐world population of patients with EGFR‐mutant advanced non‐small cell lung cancer. Thromboembolic events occur more frequently than previously reported, suggesting a thrombotic diathesis that requires further investigation. Patients with at least three metastatic sites, brain

A neuronal basis for fear discrimination in the lateral amygdala

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
When perceiving new stimuli, organisms need to distinguish between threats versus harmless stimuli. Here, the authors find a set of cells in the lateral amygdala that is required to discriminate or generalize new auditory stimuli based on similarity to ...

Concomitant 5‐Aminosalicylic Acid Does Not Affect the Efficacy of Janus Kinase Inhibitors in Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
We evaluated whether concomitant 5‐aminosalicylic acid (5‐ASA) influences clinical remission in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) receiving Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi). In this retrospective, multicenter cohort study, UC patients receiving tofacitinib (n = 181), upadacitinib (n = 313), or filgotinib (n = 139) were included.

Latent Trajectories of Body Mass Index and Depressive Symptoms in Inpatients With Anorexia Nervosa: Predictors and Outcomes

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Inpatient treatment aimed at weight restoration and psychiatric stabilization is often required for individuals with anorexia nervosa (AN). This study aimed to identify distinct trajectories of change in body mass index (BMI) and depressive symptoms during inpatient treatment, examine clinical predictors and outcomes, and test ...
