Impact of Early COVID‐19 Antiviral Therapy on the Incidence of Uveitis: A Retrospective Cohort Study Using the TriNetX Database

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess whether antivirals are associated with a reduced incidence of uveitis following COVID‐19. Methods We conducted a multi‐institutional, population‐based retrospective cohort study of adults (≥ 18 years) diagnosed with COVID‐19 between 2022 and 2024. Patients who received antiviral agents (Paxlovid, Molnupiravir, or Remdesivir)

Carbohydrate‐Based Drug Discovery: Synthetic Strategies and Clinical Applications

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Chemistry, Volume 66, Issue 3, May 2026.
The picture depicts the molecules discussed in the review. On the left side, the general scaffold of sugars is shown. Next to it are four carbohydrate‐based molecules, including remdesivir, islatravir, empagliflozin, and Globo‐H. Remdesivir and islatravir contain a substituted ribose ring attached to a modified nucleobase.

Effect of quercetin on the transport of ritonavir to the central nervous system in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica, 2016
The aim of this study was to identify an effective flavonoid that could improve the intracellular accumulation of ritonavir in human brain-microvascular endothelial cells (HBMECs). An in vivo experiment on Sprague-Dawley rats was then designed to further

Long‐Acting PrEP for People With High Vulnerability to HIV Acquisition in Brazil: A Cost‐Effectiveness Analysis

open access: yesJournal of the International AIDS Society, Volume 29, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction In Brazil, men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TGW) remain heavily affected by HIV. Long‐acting pre‐exposure prophylaxis (LA PrEP) with injectable cabotegravir (CAB‐LA) or lenacapavir (LEN‐LA) is more effective at preventing HIV acquisition than oral PrEP.

KSHV Genome in Saliva, Whole Blood and Kaposi's Sarcoma Biopsy Specimens in Republic of Congo: Phylogenetic Analysis and an APOBEC3B Mutational Signature

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Kaposi's sarcoma‐associated herpesvirus (KSHV) has been associated with a variety of diseases and is endemic in Sub‐Saharan Africa. We performed KSHV‐whole‐genome analysis and search for APOBEC‐editing to describe genetic diversity in samples issued from an endemic region.

Delayed diagnosis of 3β‐HSD7 deficiency in adolescence: Two case reports and review of the literature

open access: yesJPGN Reports, Volume 7, Issue 2, Page 236-241, May 2026.
Abstract Congenital bile acid synthesis defects (BASD), the most common of which is 3β‐hydroxy‐Δ5‐C27‐steroid dehydrogenase oxidoreductase (3β‐HSD7) deficiency, are a rare cause of fat‐soluble vitamin malabsorption. We describe a 14‐year‐old girl who presented at 14 months with a left distal femur fracture and failure to thrive.

An Interactive Pharmacokinetic‐Pharmacodynamic Framework to Evaluate Bedaquiline Dose Modifications in Adults With Tuberculosis

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Bedaquiline is approved for use in a thrice‐weekly dosing schedule; simpler once‐daily dosing strategies could enable fixed‐dose combinations and improve patient adherence. We developed an interactive R Shiny simulation tool to enable the evaluation of different bedaquiline dosing schedules within an integrated dose‐pharmacokinetic‐efficacy ...
