Long‐Term Management Shapes Soil Microbial Communities Primarily Through Modulating Soil Habitat Quality in Swiss Croplands

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Soil microbial communities are key drivers of soil functioning in agricultural systems. Yet the relative influence of soil properties and cropping practices on their diversity remains insufficiently understood. We investigated 60 cropland sites in western Switzerland, covering a broad range of soil properties and cropping practices, to explore

Free vibration analysis of functionally graded porous materials complex shells with variable thickness [PDF]

open access: yesAUT Journal of Mechanical Engineering
This research investigates the vibration characteristics of composite shells featuring a cylindrical-hemispherical geometry, fabricated from functionally graded porous materials with varying thicknesses.

How Do Management Choices Impact the Performance of Cassava‐Legume Intercropping in Africa? A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Intercropping can enable sustainable intensification. In Africa, smallholder farmers rely on Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) as a staple food. Nevertheless, the performance of cassava intercropping emerges from management choices such as legume species selection, planting density, sowing time, and nitrogen (N) fertilisation as well as soil ...

Localization transition of random copolymers at interfaces

open access: yes, 1999
We consider adsorption of random copolymer chains onto an interface within the model of Garel et al. Europhysics Letters 8, 9 (1989). By using the replica method the adsorption of the copolymer at the interface is mapped onto the problem of finding the ...

Personality states at work: A narrative review of emergent research and an agenda for future development of the field

open access: yesApplied Psychology, Volume 75, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract Personality has been studied broadly within the work context, typically as a long‐term, stable construct, yet a growing body of literature explores personality as short‐term, dynamic states that interact with the workplace. This research, however, is in its infancy, but it has significant implications for how we understand personality in ...

On the Convergence of Ritz-Galerkin's Method

open access: yesPublications of the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences, 1968
where D is a bounded domain in the (#, jO -plane, P is the boundary of D, and 0), &(:>0), c(>0), / are smooth functions defined on D. In Ritz-Galerkin's method, first we choose a system of linearly independent functions {^J such that they satisfy the given homogeneous boundary condition and they are dense in a function space containing the exact ...

On the Rayleigh-Ritz variational method

open access: yes, 2022
We give a simple proof of the well known fact that the approximate eigenvalues provided by the Rayleigh-Ritz variational method are increasingly accurate upper bounds to the exact ones. To this end, we resort to the variational principle, mentioned in most textbooks on quantum chemistry, and to a well known set of projection operators.
