Nucleotide Sequence and Function of Transfer RNA and Precursor Transfer RNA
1973At present, we have to consider the functional interactions of the tRNA molecule without knowing its three-dimensional structure. Comparison of tRNA sequences has shown that they have a common hydrogen-bonded structure defined by the cloverleaf arrangement, and in addition they have certain common sequences or correlated sequences which may also be ...

Abstract 1. 1. Treatment of tRNA fMet with hydroxylamine caused specific modification of cytosine residues among a number of constituent nucleobases and only three out of the 26 cytosine residues in the tRNA were modified. The modified tRNA was found to charge methionine up to 64 % of its original acceptance. 2. 2.

On the origin of the transfer RNA molecule
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1992Data and arguments are given in favour of the hypothesis that the primitive tRNA molecule may have originated from a direct duplication event involving one of the two halves of the tRNA molecule. It seems that a molecule capable of assuming a hairpin structure was involved as a precursor in this duplication.

Studies on transfer RNA and transfer RNA genes in Drosophila melanogaster
1977In the present study Drosophila melanogaster was used to define the organization and expression of tRNA genes. The three major Drosophila valine tRNAs were isolated and purified by standard chromatographic techniques. Nucleoside analysis indicated that of these tRNAs only tRNA₄Val contained inosine.
