Prisoner's dilemma in an RNA virus

Nature, 1999
The evolution of competitive interactions among viruses was studied in the RNA phage phi6 at high and low multiplicities of infection (that is, at high and low ratios of infecting phage to host cells). At high multiplicities, many phage infect and reproduce in the same host cell, whereas at low multiplicities the viruses reproduce mainly as clones.

RVvictor: Virus RNA-directed molecular interactions for RNA virus infection

Computers in Biology and Medicine
RNA viruses are major human pathogens that cause seasonal epidemics and occasional pandemic outbreaks. Due to the nature of their RNA genomes, it is anticipated that virus's RNA interacts with host protein (INTPRO), messenger RNA (INTmRNA), and non-coding RNA (INTncRNA) to perform their particular functions during their transcription and replication ...

Translation of Plant Virus RNA’s

1980
In vitro translation of plant virus RNAs not only yields valuable information about the proteins encoded by these RNAs, but it also gives information about the protein synthesizing machinery of the host. In the present paper we only discuss the results obtained with plant viruses with a genome consisting of single stranded RNA(s) with the plus polarity

Strandedness of Pichinde virus RNA

Journal of Virology, 1977
The Pichinde virus RNA did not possess the following characteristics of eucaryotic mRNA: polyadenylic acid sequence, capped methylated structure, and ability to direct protein synthesis in vitro. Polysomal RNA extracted from cells infected with Pichinde virus reannealed with 32P-labeled virus RNA, protecting about 60% of the latter against RNase ...

The characterization of Chikungunya virus RNA

Archiv fr die gesamte Virusforschung, 1972
Highly purified preparations of Chikungunya virus (CHV) were obtained from culture fluid of infected VERO cells (Green monkey kidney stable cells) by differential centrifugation involving sedimentation through 25% sucrose solution and density gradient centrifugation by the use of potassium tartrate (17 to 27 %).

Plant RNA virus evolution

Current Opinion in Microbiology, 2003
RNA viruses are the most common viruses of plants, and the evolution of these viruses has been studied both experimentally and phylogenetically. The basic molecular mechanisms for plant virus evolution are similar to those of other viruses, with some notable exceptions. Recent advances include new insights into the origins of plant viruses, analyses of

Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus RNAs

Nature New Biology, 1971
IT has been proposed that lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCM) virus and immunologically related viruses should be placed in a new taxonomic group, with LCM virus as the prototype virus1,2. They were called arenoviruses because they contain, as a unique feature, electron-dense, sand-like or ribo-some-like granules2.

Avian Influenza Virus RNA Extraction

2014
The efficient extraction and purification of viral RNA is critical for downstream molecular applications such as the sensitive and specific detection of virus in clinical samples, virus gene cloning and expression, gene sequencing, or quantification of avian influenza (AI) virus by molecular methods from experimentally infected birds.

Oligonucleotide Fingerprinting With RNA Tumor Virus RNA

1978
Recent advances in characterizing the genomic structure of RNA tumor viruses have been made by oligonucleotide fingerprinting of the viral RNA. With this sequencing technique, genetic relationships between viruses have been determined, the viral genome has been sized and mapped, and recombination has been studied.
