Structure of the Dengue Virus RNA Promoter

open access: yesRNA, 2022
Abstract Dengue virus, a single-stranded positive sense RNA virus, is the most prevalent mosquito-borne pathogen in the world. Like all RNA viruses, it uses conserved structural elements within its genome to control essential replicative steps.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Induction of translation-suppressive G3BP1+ stress granules and interferon-signaling cGAS condensates by transfected plasmid DNA

open access: yeshLife
Plasmid DNA transfection is one of the fundamental tools of biomedical research. Here, we found that plasmid DNA transfection mediated by liposomes activates multiple innate immune responses in several widely used cell lines.

RNA packaging and uncoating in simple single-stranded RNA viruses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Simple (non-enveloped) small, positive-sense single-stranded RNA viruses infect hosts from all kingdoms of life. However, their assembly and uncoating processes remain poorly understood. For turnip crinkle virus (TCV), 3D reconstructions by cryoelectron

The splicing factor proline-glutamine rich (SFPQ/PSF) is involved in influenza virus transcription.

open access: yes, 2011
The influenza A virus RNA polymerase is a heterotrimeric complex responsible for viral genome transcription and replication in the nucleus of infected cells. We recently carried out a proteomic analysis of purified polymerase expressed in human cells and

Suppression of RNA Interference by Adenovirus Virus-Associated RNA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2005
ABSTRACT We show that human adenovirus inhibits RNA interference (RNAi) at late times of infection by suppressing the activity of two key enzyme systems involved, Dicer and RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). To define the mechanisms by which adenovirus blocks RNAi, we used a panel of mutant adenoviruses defective in virus ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

The long noncoding RNA lnc-FANCI-2 intrinsically restricts RAS signaling in human papillomavirus type 16-infected cervical cancer cells

open access: yeseLife
Increased expression of lnc-FANCI-2, a newly discovered long noncoding RNA, is associated with cervical lesion progression from cervical intraepithelial neoplasia stage 1 (CIN1, low grade), CIN2–3 (high grade), to cervical cancer. Viral oncoprotein E7 of

Aminoacylation of Encephalomyocarditis Virus RNA

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1977
RNA extracted from purified encephalomyocarditis (EMC) virus (EMC-RNA) can be aminoacylated with synthetase praparations from Escherichia coli, beef and rabbit liver. The extent of aminoacylation is between 0-024 and 0-080 moles per mole EMC-RNA and occurs only with serine. Either removal of possible low mol. wt.

Adenovirus Virus-Associated RNA Is Processed to Functional Interfering RNAs Involved in Virus Production [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2006
ABSTRACT Posttranscriptional gene silencing allows sequence-specific control of gene expression. Specificity is guaranteed by small antisense RNAs such as microRNAs (miRNAs) or small interfering RNAs (siRNAs). Functional miRNAs derive from longer double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) molecules that are cleaved to pre-miRNAs in the nucleus and are ...
