Microstructure Modification of Additively Manufactured Mo–9Si–8B by Annealing and Its Effects on High‐Temperature Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Postbuild annealing systematically modifies the phase fractions and morphology of EB‐PBF processed Mo–9Si–8B. Quantitative microstructure–property correlations reveal how controlled phase evolution enhances high‐temperature compressive strength and creep resistance.

Cross-roads in the classification of papillomaviruses

open access: yesVirology, 2013
Acceptance of an official classification for the family Papillomaviridae based purely on DNA sequence relatedness, was achieved as late as 2003. The rate of isolation and characterization of new papillomavirus types has greatly depended on and subjected to the development of new laboratory techniques.

Assessing the risk of pedestrian crossing behavior on suburban roads using structural equation model

open access: yesJournal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English ed. Online)
While pedestrian crashes on suburban roads have received more attention over recent years, the role of pedestrian crossing risk in areas adjacent to pedestrian crossing facilities, such as pedestrian overpasses, has been neglected.

Discrepancies Between Micro Versus Macroscale Viscoelastic Properties in a Microplastic‐Tissue Composite Model

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the discrepancies between bulk mechanics and spatial mapping in a tissue‐mimetic hydrogel model. Microplastic particles create localized stiff mechanical microenvironments that are detectable by cellular‐scale nanoindentation but leave bulk properties unchanged as measured by rheology.

Fabrication Routes for Ionic Conducting Fiber Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conducting fiber strain sensors (ICFSs) offer compliant, textile‐integrable sensing. Thus far, the commercialization of ICFSs has been constrained by fiber fabrication routes. This review provides a fabrication‐centric analysis of ICFSs correlating processing strategies with material properties and scalability.
