open access: yesJurnal Penelitian Hasil Hutan (Journal of Forest Products Research), 2017
Forest road network has a very important role in tranaporling logs fram the frest to processing site or logyard. The investigation of forest road density by using theaerial photo of l : 20.000 and 1: 60.000 scales had been conducted. The scope of the ...

Threats to Ecosystems - Road Density

open access: yes, 2010
Transportation activities have a great impact on the environment because they fracture natural habitats and create pollution. Roads intrude into natural habitats, separating ecosystems and permanently altering the landscape. Road building has undesirable effects on species that require large tracts of undisturbed land. The main impact of transportation

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Dynamic analysis of road vehicle-bridge systems under turbulent wind by means of Finite Element Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
When an automobile passes over a bridge dynamic effects are produced in vehicle and structure. In addition, the bridge itself moves when exposed to the wind inducing dynamic effects on the vehicle that have to be considered.

Productivity of a prototype truck-mounted logging residue bundler and a road-side bundling system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
When recovering logging residues (LR) for bioenergy its density should be increased before road transport, otherwise a low proportion of the trucks’ load capacity will be used.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

The volume of generated waste, population density and road network density - anthropogenic pressure index

open access: yesProcedia Environmental Sciences, 2011
AbstractThe study attempt to define an anthropogenic pressure index (IA) on the basis of the data, available for Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union districts. The volume of generated waste, population density and road network density, were taken into account to determine this parameter.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Compaction Density Determination of the Road Asphalt Layers

open access: yesCommunications - Scientific letters of the University of Zilina, 2018
This paper analyses the destructive and non-destructive methods for checking the degree of compaction of asphalt layers and their multi-criteria evaluation. The data obtained during laying of ACO 11+50 mm thickness was selected for the analysis. The bulk density was determined by using probes Troxler 3440, Troxler 2701 and from the drill cores in these

Dynamic instability transitions in 1D driven diffusive flow with nonlocal hopping

open access: yes, 2007
One-dimensional directed driven stochastic flow with competing nonlocal and local hopping events has an instability threshold from a populated phase into an empty-road (ER) phase. We implement this in the context of the asymmetric exclusion process.
