EVALUATION PAVEMENT DISTRESSES USING PAVEMENT CONDITION INDEX [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Pavement deterioration is resulted by both environmental and structural causes. It is difficult to maintain the road on the same specification that was owned at the opening and problems start to appear represented in the pavement cracks, holes and ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Porous asphalt pavement for traffic noise reduction and pavement dewatering – the pollution problem

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
The paper characterizes the porous asphalt mixture used in pavement construction. This kind of pavement can reduce traffic noise and reduce the slipperiness of the road pavement.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Guidelines for the use of accelerated pavement testing data in autonomous vehicle infrastructure research

open access: yesJournal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English ed. Online), 2019
There is much research conducted on the vehicle technologies required for operation of autonomous vehicles (AV) on public roads, as well as analysis of the interaction between AV and the road environment. However, limited research exists on the impact of

Road Pavement Management Accounting System Application

open access: yesjournal of Civil Engineering Information Processing System, 2004
In this paper, a Pavement Management Accounting System application (in brief, PMAS application) is presented to control the life cycle costs of road pavement. The aim of the PMAS application is to provide the decision makers with the planning information regarding repair strategies and the accounting information on the asset values for the efficient ...

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.
