Mechanism of “seesaw‐type” rock burst in coal seam mining beneath mountainous areas

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study reveals the mechanism of “seesaw‐type” rock bursts during coal mining beneath mountainous areas. The advancing working face induces nonuniform fracturing of the overburden. The detached mountain mass then undergoes a seesaw‐type rotational movement around a shifting pivot, driving the primary fracture through a characteristic “open‐close ...

Dynamic prediction of coal and gas outburst risk based on quantitative analysis of stress–energy evolution and adaptive correction

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study quantitatively analyzed the spatiotemporal evolution of stress redistribution ahead of the working face by integrating coal seam distribution, tectonic stress anomalies, gas pressure, and mining‐induced disturbances. An R‐value criterion for coal and gas outburst (CGO) risk assessment was established based on energy principles.

Research on deformation features and control strategies of repeated mining roadways in Guanjiaya Coal Mine

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua
The surrounding rock of the repeated mining roadway is severely deformed and cannot be reused, and the repeated mining roadway has obvious overlapping extension features during the service period.

Climate‐related exposures and seizures in children: A systematic review

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Climate‐related exposures, including air pollution, temperature extremes, humidity, and atmospheric conditions, are increasingly recognized as potential seizure triggers. As climate change intensifies, understanding the environmental contributors to pediatric seizure risk has important implications for anticipatory guidance and ...

Seismic Fragility of Gravity and Semi‐Gravity Retaining Walls and Its Impact on the Functionality Loss of Road Infrastructures

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Retaining walls are key geotechnical components of road infrastructure, whose seismic performance directly affects the resilience of transportation networks. Despite their importance, seismic fragility models for retaining walls available in the literature refer only to specific case studies.

Study on Roof‐Control Technology for Gob‐Side Entry Retaining Under Composite Roofs

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study develops a roof‐control technology system for gob‐side entry retaining under composite roofs. By integrating field measurements, theoretical analysis, and numerical simulation, it reveals the spatiotemporal evolution of the plastic zone and proposes a targeted support method, providing theoretical and practical guidance for safe and ...

Deformation Mechanism and Control Technology of the Surrounding Rock of the Floor Roadway under the Influence of Mining

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
Deformation and failure mechanism of the surrounding rock of the floor roadway under the influence of working face mining is complicated, and roadway control is difficult.

Optimization of Blasting‑Induced Roof Cutting Parameters in Key Stratum and Its Application in Gob‑Side Entry Retention Technology

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study addresses hard roof coal seam conditions by optimizing key stratum blasting‐cutting parameters through theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and field tests. It proposes calculation methods for blast hole spacing and delay timing based on stress wave theory, controlling roadway deformation within 35 mm, thereby enhancing resource ...

Damage Characteristics and Stress Distribution Law of Overburden Rock in Multiple Mining of Close Coal Seams

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study on close coal seams shows that multi‐seam mining increases the height of the fractured zone from approximately 26 m (single upper‐seam mining) to about 49 m. When the lower seam is mined after the extraction of the upper seam, the heights of both the caved zone and the fractured zone increase by approximately two times.

Understanding creep in sandstone reservoirs – theoretical deformation mechanism maps for pressure solution in granular materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Subsurface exploitation of the Earth’s natural resources removes the natural system from its chemical and physical equilibrium. As such, groundwater extraction and hydrocarbon production from subsurface reservoirs frequently causes surface subsidence and
