Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 65, 13 August 2026.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Electrostatically‐Stabilized PEG‐Free Lipid Nanoparticles for Systemic Nucleic Acid Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 66, 17 August 2026.
This work describes non‐PEGylated layered lipid nanoparticles (nonPEG LLNPs), a gene delivery platform that improves upon standard PEGylated LNPs via electrostatic adsorption of charged polymers. nonPEG LLNPs maintain colloidal stability under biological stresses, enhance circulation time, and mitigate accelerated blood clearance and hepatic ...

In‐Hatchery Survival of Chinook Salmon Using Natural and Hatchery Broodstocks

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Natural‐origin Chinook Salmon Oncorhynchus tshawytscha have been integrated into hatchery broodstocks to mitigate the potentially negative effects of domestication in‐hatchery programmes. However, uncertainty exists about the in‐hatchery performance of the offspring of natural‐origin parents relative to the traditional hatchery broodstocks ...

Do Mimic Hoverflies Spatially Match Their Bumblebee Models? Evidence From a Polymorphic Mimicry System

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Polymorphic Batesian mimics are often expected to track the distributions of their respective model species. We found substantial overlap among color morphs of Volucella bombylans and their putative Bombus models, while habitat suitability for Bombus lapidarius positively predicted the occurrence of all three hoverfly morphs.
