Robot Accident Investigation: a case study in Responsible Robotics [PDF]
Robot accidents are inevitable. Although rare, they have been happening since assembly-line robots were first introduced in the 1960s. But a new generation of social robots are now becoming commonplace. Often with sophisticated embedded artificial intelligence (AI) social robots might be deployed as care robots to assist elderly or disabled people to ...

Robot Vitals and Robot Health: Towards Systematically Quantifying Runtime Performance Degradation in Robots Under Adverse Conditions [PDF]
This paper addresses the problem of automatically detecting and quantifying performance degradation in remote mobile robots during task execution. A robot may encounter a variety of uncertainties and adversities during task execution, which can impair its ability to carry out tasks effectively and cause its performance to degrade.

Development of an animal model of hypothyroxinemia during pregnancy in Wistar rats
We developed an animal model of hypothyroidism in pregnancy by administering 1 ppm of propylthiouracil in groups. Enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay and behavioral experiments were performed to verify results. The results confirmed that the offspring rats exhibited autism‐like changes at 40 days, providing model support for subsequent exploration of ...

Forty endoscopic thyroid surgery videos, all in high definition or better quality, were analyzed. The Dice values were 0.351, 0.568, and 0.746 for the inferior thyroid artery, RLN, and trachea, respectively. Data augmentation was performed by cropping, standardizing, and resizing to reduce false positives and improve accuracy.

Come Closer: The Effects of Robot Personality on Human Proxemics Behaviours [PDF]
Social Robots in human environments need to be able to reason about their physical surroundings while interacting with people. Furthermore, human proxemics behaviours around robots can indicate how people perceive the robots and can inform robot personality and interaction design.
