Robust adaptive beamforming

IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1987
Adaptive beamforming algorithms can be extremely sensitive to slight errors in array characteristics. Errors which are uncorrelated from sensor to sensor pass through the beamformer like uncorrelated or spatially white noise. Hence, gain against white noise is a measure of robustness.

Novel Robust Adaptive Beamforming

2012 IEEE 75th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2012
Diagonal loading (DL) is one of the widely used techniques against the errors due to steering vector mismatch and finite sample effect. Recently, a variable loading (VL) has shown its advantages over the DL due to using different loading for each eigenvalue of the correlation matrix of the received array data rather than a fixed loading for all of the ...

A Robust Adaptive Beamforming Approach

2009 International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2009
In this paper, a new adaptive weight computation algorithm for a robust array antenna is presented to improve the shortcoming of linearly constrained adaptive beamformer’s sensitivity to the mismatch between the prescribed and actual direction of arrival (MPDOA).The adaptive array minimizes the mean output power under the direction constraint that the ...

Robust Constrained LMS Adaptive Beamformer

2006 CIE International Conference on Radar, 2006
In the paper, an approach is proposed for robust constrained LMS beamforming in the presence of pointing error, array geometry error and sensor phase error (generalized as array phase errors). The basic idea is to search the optimal weight vector with constrained LMS update, and jointly search the actual array steering vector of the desired signal ...

Self-steered robust adaptive beamforming

2016 IEEE/OES China Ocean Acoustics (COA), 2016
An adaptive beamforming algorithm, which is very robust against look direction mismatch, is proposed in this paper. The essence of the proposed algorithm is to near-perfectly reconstruct the interference-plus-noise covariance matrix using the eigenvalue decomposition, Capon spectrum estimation, and spatial integration, respectively.
