Robust and accurate data enrichment statistics via distribution function of sum of weights [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Term enrichment analysis facilitates biological interpretation by assigning to experimentally/computationally obtained data annotation associated with terms from controlled vocabularies.

Robust Statistics for Image Deconvolution

open access: yes, 2017
We present a blind multiframe image-deconvolution method based on robust statistics. The usual shortcomings of iterative optimization of the likelihood function are alleviated by minimizing the M-scale of the residuals, which achieves more uniform ...

Robust functional principal components: A projection-pursuit approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In many situations, data are recorded over a period of time and may be regarded as realizations of a stochastic process. In this paper, robust estimators for the principal components are considered by adapting the projection pursuit approach to the ...

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

The MedSupport Multilevel Intervention to Enhance Support for Pediatric Medication Adherence: Development and Feasibility Testing

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction We developed MedSupport, a multilevel medication adherence intervention designed to address root barriers to medication adherence. This study sought to explore the feasibility and acceptability of the MedSupport intervention strategies to support a future full‐scale randomized controlled trial.

Statistical Distances and Their Applications to Biophysical Parameter Estimation: Information Measures, M-Estimates, and Minimum Contrast Methods

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2013
Radiative transfer models predicting the bidirectional reflectance factor (BRF) of leaf canopies are powerful tools that relate biophysical parameters such as leaf area index (LAI), fractional vegetation cover fV and the fraction of photosynthetically ...

The variant call format provides efficient and robust storage of GWAS summary statistics

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2020
GWAS summary statistics are fundamental for a variety of research applications yet no common storage format has been widely adopted. Existing tabular formats ambiguously or incompletely store information about genetic variants and associations, lack ...

Robust Cubature Kalman Filter for Dynamic State Estimation of Synchronous Machines Under Unknown Measurement Noise Statistics [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The Kalman-type filtering techniques including cubature Kalman filter (CKF) does not work well in non-Gaussian environments, especially in the presence of outliers.

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Patients With Osteosarcoma: Local Control Outcomes With Dosimetric Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Osteosarcoma is a radioresistant tumor that may benefit from stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for locoregional control in metastatic/recurrent disease. We report institutional practice patterns, outcomes, toxicity, and failures in osteosarcoma patients treated with SBRT.

Robust Identification of Target Genes and Outliers in Triple-negative Breast Cancer Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Correct classification of breast cancer sub-types is of high importance as it directly affects the therapeutic options. We focus on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) which has the worst prognosis among breast cancer types.
