Novel Tools for Single Comparative and Unified Evaluation of Qualitative and Quantitative Bioassays: SS/PV–ROC and SS-J/PV-PSI Index–ROC Curves with Integrated Concentration Distributions, and SS-J/PV-PSI Index Cut-Off Diagrams

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background: This investigation is both a study of potential non-invasive diagnostic approaches for the bladder cancer biomarker UBC® Rapid test and a study including novel comparative methods for bioassay evaluation and comparison that uses bladder ...

Using the ROC Curve to Measure Association and Evaluate Prediction Accuracy for a Binary Outcome

open access: yes, 2017
This review article addresses the ROC curve and its advantage over the odds ratio to measure the association between a continuous variable and a binary outcome.

Chronic Pain in Parkinson’s Disease: Prevalence, Sex Differences, Regional Anatomy and Comorbidities

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Chronic pain affected 66.2% of 10,631 individuals with Parkinson's disease, with higher prevalence and severity in females. Pain most often involved the buttocks, lower back, neck, and knees, and was linked to depression, sleep disorders, and osteoarthritis.

COMPARING DIAGNOSTIC TESTS FROM ROC CURVE COMPARACIÓN DE PRUEBAS DIAGNÓSTICAS DESDE LA CURVA ROC

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Estadística, 2007
We study the problem of comparing the power of classification of different methods from the ROC Curve. On one hand, we propose a method based on the supremum measure and, on the other hand, we study the problem of comparing two or more ROC curves from ...

Waist circumference percentile curves as a screening tool to predict cardiovascular risk factors and metabolic syndrome risk in Brazilian children

open access: yesCadernos de Saúde Pública, 2018
The goals of this study were to develop reference values for waist circumference (WC) in Brazilian children between 6-10 years old and to evaluate the WC performance in predicting cardiovascular risk factors and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in children ...

Longitudinal Study of Salivary Biomarkers in the Definition of Clinico‐Molecular Progression of Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Longitudinal changes in salivary biomarkers in Parkinson’s disease (PD) from early (T0) to 4‐year follow‐up (T1), quantified by ELISA: oligomeric and total α‐synuclein, total and phosphorylated tau, MAP1LC3B (autophagy), and TNFa (inflammation). Blue arrows indicate direction of change at T1 vs T0 (up = increase; down = decrease).

COVARIATE SPECIFIC ROC CURVE WITH SURVIVAL OUTCOME [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve has been extended to survival data recently, including the nonparametric approach by Heagerty, Lumley and Pepe (2000) and the semiparametric approach by Heagerty and Zheng (2005) using standard survival

Confidence Bands for ROC Curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Abstract : We address the problem of comparing the performance of classifiers. In this paper we study techniques for generating and evaluating confidence bands on ROC curves. Historically this has been done using one-dimensional confidence intervals by freezing one variable-the false-positive rate, or threshold on the classification scoring function ...

Adjusting the generalized ROC curve for covariates [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, 2004
AbstractReceiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and in particular the area under the curve (AUC), are widely used to examine the effectiveness of diagnostic markers. Diagnostic markers and their corresponding ROC curves can be strongly influenced by covariate variables.
