Instrumented Model Rock Blasting
Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 2011Abstract Literature review information and model scale rock blasting tests have been utilized to study the effects of some blast and fragmentation parameters on peak p-wave stress. A method for modeling scale blasting in sandstone blocks with dimensions of 515×335×215 mm3 has been studied and the results from a blast experiment ...

Modeling fractures in rock blasting
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Science & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1997A numerical model based on the discrete element is used to investigate the importance of stress waves on the initiation and propagation of radial fractures during the dynamic loading phase of an explosion. An explosion occurring in a two-dimensional rock plate is simulated and the resulting fracturing process is detailed.

Numerical study of rock blasting
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2015The paper presents numerical simulation results on fracture of a concrete block due to dynamic explosive loads applied to the walls of a blast hole. Considered in the study is the influence of the pulse shape and rock properties on the pattern of irreversible deformation and cracking.

Asymmetric Blasting: A Rock Mass Dependent Blast Design Method
Fragblast, 2002Blasting has been the most frequently used method for rock breakage since black powder was first used to fragment rocks, more than two hundred years ago. This paper is an attempt to reassess standard design techniques used in blasting by providing an alternative approach to blast design. The new approach has been termed asymmetric blasting.
