Description of Flavicapitulum gen. nov. and two new species of Marmoreocelis from thermal habitats in the Americas

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract Three novel taxa in the Coleofasciculales were observed in hot springs in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States, and in the Tabaconcito thermal springs on the Rio Tabacón in Costa Rica. Flavicapitulum vaporiphilum gen. et sp. nov. was located in a supported clade with Gracilinea and Marmoreocelis.

Ariadnema polymorpha gen. et sp. nov. (Scytonemataceae, Cyanobacteria): A new heterocytous cyanobacterium with true and false branching from ruins in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract A novel heterocytous Cyanobacterium, Ariadnema polymorpha gen. et sp. nov., was observed in the northern Brazilian Atlantic Forest (BAF), a globally significant biodiversity hotspot that has microbiome diversity yet to be explored. Isolated from ancient sugarcane mill ruins within the BAF, the new genus (strain CCAPE130) exhibits a unique ...

Lithochloron, a new genus of green algae residing in coral skeleton (Cladophorales, Chlorophyta)

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract Coral skeletons host diverse microbial communities, including endolithic green algae that contribute to holobiont functioning. The siphonous green alga Ostreobium (Bryopsidales) is arguably the best‐known coral endolith, but recent environmental sequencing has indicated that other lineages of green algae may also inhabit the coral skeleton ...

Vicariance and dispersal in the Aegean Archipelago: Molecular phylogeography reveals the origin and divergence times of Hydropsyche (Trichoptera: Hydropsychidae) species

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, EarlyView.
Divergence times of Greek Hydropsyche lineages fall mostly within the Pliocene‐Pleistocene, rejecting ancient vicariance. Widespread species show shallow divergences consistent with dispersal, while island endemics exhibit deeper isolation patterns supporting a mixed vicariance‐dispersal model.

The Analogia Entis for Reformed Theology: Retrieving Calvin's Implicit Metaphysics

open access: yesModern Theology, EarlyView.
Abstract The famous controversy between Emil Brunner and Karl Barth which led to Barth's ‘No!’ was driven by disagreements over how to read John Calvin: Barth and Brunner never agreed on whether Calvin had a doctrine of the analogy of being. This article rekindles the debate.
