Multifunctional Microstructured Surfaces by Microcontact Printing of Reactive Microgels

Reactive poly(N‐vinylcaprolactam‐co‐glycidyl methacrylate) microgels are used as functional inks to create surface‐grafted arrays on glass via microcontact printing. The patterns (10–50 µm widths and spacings) enable stable binding and post‐functionalization with dyes and peptides.

Local Thermal Conductivity Patterning in Rotating Lattice Crystals of Anisotropic Sb2S3

Microscale control of thermal conductivity in Sb2S3 is demonstrated via laser‐induced rotating lattice crystals. Thermal conductivity imaging reveals marked thermal transport anisotropy, with the c axis featuring amorphous‐like transport, whereas in‐plane directions (a, b) exhibit 3.5x and 1.7x larger thermal conductivity.

Cutting Characteristics of a Ductile Rock

A rock sample was obtained from an underground lignite mine for the investigation of the cutting characteristics of a ductile rock where the heading is achieved with a roadheader. The rock sample (metasiltstone) was classified according to a pertinent brittleness classification by means of its compressive strength to tensile strength ratio.
