Concepts for Co-Mixing of Tailings and Waste Rock

open access: yes, 2003
The co-mixing of tailings and waste rock involves the intimate blending of tailings and waste rock to create a new material (Co-Mix) with superior physical and hydraulic properties.

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Study on the C80 High-Strength Rock Chips Concrete

open access: yes, 2011
Rock chips is a potential substitutable material for river sand, which can effectively solve the shortage problem of the river sand in concrete. At present most studies are about the rock chips concrete concentrate on the normal-strength concrete.

Rolling disc model for rock cutting based on fracture mechanics

open access: yes, 2018
Summarization: A rock cutting by a TBM's rolling disc model based on Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics is considered in this study. From dimensional considerations the factors that primarily influence the normal force exerted by disc cutter mounted on ...

Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

Compressibility of materials and backfilling mixtures with addition of solid wastes from flue-gas treatment and fly ashes

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
The article presents laboratory tests of pressure compressibility characteristics of materials and backfilling. The tests were carried out for three different types of backfilling: rock fill (dry), hydraulic and paste in oedometers for three different ...

Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Orbital Geometry‐Governed Response of Pressure‐Tunable Quantum Defects in hBN

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Defects in hBN act as ultrasensitive quantum manometers when the energy of the intradefect optical transitions is modified by lattice compression. The orbital geometry of the electron wave functions governs how electron hopping and Coulomb interactions react uniquely to the reduction of the van der Waals gap and in‐plane compression, leading to robust ...
