Reservoir Characterisation of High-Pressure, High-Temperature Zone of Malay Basin Using Seismic Inversion and Artificial Neural Network Approach

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The growing demand for hydrocarbons has driven the exploration of riskier prospects in depths, pressures, and temperatures. Substantial volumes of hydrocarbons lie within deep formations, classified as high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) zone.

Physical and Physiological Determinants of Rock Climbing [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance, 2020
Purpose: Rock climbing performance relies on many characteristics. Herein, the authors identified the physical and physiological determinants of peak performance in rock climbing across the range from lower grade to elite. Methods: Forty four male and 33 female climbers with onsight maximal climbing grades 5a–8a and 5a–7b+, respectively, were tested ...

Estimation of Equivalent Pore Aspect Ratio in Rock Physics Models and Validation Using Digital Rocks

open access: yesGeosciences
Complex pore structures with multiple inclusions challenge the predictive accuracy of rock physics models. This study introduces a novel method for estimating a single equivalent pore aspect ratio that optimizes rock physics model predictions by ...

Rational Rock Physics for Improved Velocity Prediction and Reservoir Properties Estimation for Granite Wash (Tight Sands) in Anadarko Basin, Texas

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geophysics, 2014
Due to the complex nature, deriving elastic properties from seismic data for the prolific Granite Wash reservoir (Pennsylvanian age) in the western Anadarko Basin Wheeler County (Texas) is quite a challenge.

Pure and stable metallic phase molybdenum disulfide nanosheets for hydrogen evolution reaction

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Metallic molybdenum disulfide is a metastable phase of the material. Here, the authors synthesize two-dimensional metallic molybdenum disulfide nanosheets, stabilized by adsorbed aqueous monolayers, and evaluate their catalytic hydrogen evolution ...

When do we stop digging? Conditions on a fundamental theory of physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In seeking an answer to the question of what it means for a theory to be fundamental, it is enlightening to ask why the current best theories of physics are not generally believed to be fundamental.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

CO2 rock physics modeling for reliable monitoring of geologic carbon storage

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Monitoring, verification, and accounting (MVA) are crucial to ensure safe and long-term geologic carbon storage. Seismic monitoring is a key MVA technique that utilizes seismic data to infer elastic properties of CO2-saturated rocks.
