Analysis of the peat slide at Pollatomish, County Mayo, Ireland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A major landslide event occurred at Pollatomish, County Mayo, Ireland in September 2003, during a period of intense rainfall. It comprised about 30 significant individual longitudinal planar type slides of peat and weathered rock.

Application of a Probabilistic Method Based on Neutrosophic Number in Rock Slope Stability Assessment

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
The stability of natural rock slopes is influenced by a wide spectrum of factors, such as mechanical properties of bedrocks and spatial distribution of discontinuities.

Numerical Study of the Influence of the Spatial Distribution of Oversized Rock Blocks on the Stability of Soil-Rock Mixture Slopes

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2023
Soil-rock mixtures (S-RMs), as special engineering geological materials, are widely distributed in mountainous regions and are important hosts of slope disasters.

Application of Remote Sensing to the Investigation of Rock Slopes: Experience Gained and Lessons Learned

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2019
The stability and deformation behavior of high rock slopes depends on many factors, including geological structures, lithology, geomorphic processes, stress distribution, and groundwater regime.

The stability of rock on mild slopes under wave attack [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Momentarily the determination of the static stability of rock on mild slopes can be split in roughly two paths, the empirical and the physical approach.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Mechanisms of failure of jointed rock masses and the behaviour of steep slopes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The geomorphological behaviour of steep jointed rock slopes has been studied using distinct element method computer models. In order to model steep slopes effectively, methodologies need to be combined from the studies of environmental modellers ...

Application Of Gsi System For Slope Stability Studies On Selected Slopes Of The Crocker Formation In Kota Kinabalu Area, Sabah [PDF]

open access: yesGeological Behavior, 2017
This study was conducted on two selected slopes in Kota Kinabalu area of Sabah. The area is underlain by Crocker Formation which consisting of interbedded sandstone and shale layers. The objectives of this study are to determine the Geological Strength

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

The computer simulation and prediction of rock fall [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This thesis deals with the study of rock falls using a mathematical model, codified for computer use, entitled GeoFall. GeoFall, which was developed by the author, allows predictions to be made of rock fall trajectories, run out distances and kinetic ...
