Marine Fish Passage—Underappreciated Threats to Connectivity Within the Marine Environment
ABSTRACT Habitat fragmentation is a major threat to aquatic biodiversity loss. However, much of the focus is on the connectivity of freshwaters, with much less attention given to marine ecosystems. We contend that coastal infrastructure including bridges, causeways, tidal turbines, land infilling and harbours, wharfs, quays, piers and docks have ...

This study evaluates the static and seismic stability of the Narasimharaya Sagar (Gorukallu Balancing Reservoir) earthen dam, located in India’s seismically active Zone II. Using GeoStudio software, seepage, slope stability, and liquefaction analyses were conducted to assess the dam’s performance under static and dynamic conditions.

Asphalt concrete core rockfill dams, favored for their superior impermeability and adaptable deformation capacity (effectively accommodating uneven settlement), have been gaining increasing attention in Chinese engineering practice. However, ensuring safety during high‐temperature paving and subsequent cooling remains crucial.

Research on Grouting Pressure of Earth–Rock Dams Reinforced by Polymer Based on Discrete Elements
As a novel seismic reinforcement measure for earth–rock dams, the PFA-reinforced rockfill materials technology lacks comprehensive investigation into both its reinforcement efficacy and the underlying mechanisms. In this study, we establish a fluid–solid

Experimental study on filling standard of high rockfill dams with soil core
The monitoring data of high ECRDs have shown that the deformation coordination in dam material zones does not meet the design goal, which is related to the degree of matching in the current specifications of filling for the filtration zone, transition ...

To investigate the dynamic response of soft soil foundation, field tests were conducted on a highway project in the mountainous area of Guizhou, where the dynamic replacement (DR) method was applied for foundation improvement. The evolution of excess pore water pressure and ground acceleration response during the compaction process was studied.

A three-dimensional elasto-plastic dynamic response procedure for concrete-faced rockfill dams
Equivalent linear dynamic analysis is the primary method of analysis for concrete-faced rockfill dams during earthquake. However, this method cannot be directly used to estimate permanent deformation during earthquake, which is important to evaluate the ...

Slaking deformation model for rockfill materials
The safety of core wall type rockfill dams during reservoir impounding is greatly affected by the slaking deformation of upstream shell materials. The slaking deformation of the rockfill materials is analyzed using the triaxial slaking tests, in which ...
