The Hydro-Mechanically Coupled Response of Rock Fractures
Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 2006In a fractured rock mass, variations in stress and fluid pressure induced by engineering activities can significantly affect the hydrogeological properties. A significant change in fracture transmissivities can also be experienced in the far-field. The simulation of this kind of change requires a Hydro-Mechanical (HM) coupled model. The purpose of this

Structural response and rock bolting of a rock mass
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1987Abstract Stability of a discontinuous rock mass, represented as a blocky rock mass, is examined and defined in terms of stress redistribution and formation of hinges. The anisotropic compliance of the rock mass controls the initial stress distribution and, as small deformational rotations occur, finite deformations with the anisotropic compliances ...

Thermoluminescence response of the larimar rocks
Radiation Measurements, 2010Abstract The aim of this paper is to evaluate the thermoluminescent (TL) response of a larimar, a variety of pectolite (NaCa 2 Si 3 O 8 [OH]). It is a blue pectolite only found on the terrestrial crust of the province of Barahona, in the south-western region of the Dominican Republic.

Seismic Response of Rocking Blocks
Earthquake Spectra, 2018Monuments, equipment, chimneys, and older intake structures for dams all may rock during strong ground motions. These and other rocking objects are vulnerable to overturning, leading to potential economic loss and disruption to affected communities.

II. Responses to rock phosphates
New Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, 1980Abstract Mycorrhizal and non‐mycorrhizal clover plants were grown in a sterilised phosphorus‐deficient soil, and fertilised with either pelleted Christmas Island ‘C’ grade phosphate rock or with powdered or pelleted Chatham Rise phosphate rock at eight rates ranging from 0 to 2.8 g fertiliser per pot.

Initial Response of a Rock Penetrator
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1978An analysis based on elastic rod theory is given for the early-time axisymmetric response of pointed penetrators. Results of measurements by laser interferometry of the back surface particle velocity of laboratory scale penetrators impacted by sandstone targets are presented.

The Dielectric and Conductivity Response of Sedimentary Rocks
SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1980ABSTRACT We calculate the complex dielectric constant of brine saturated sedimentary rocks using several different models. A calculation using a self-consistent scheme gives Archie’s law in the d.c. limit. The cementation exponent, m, is shown to depend on grain shape, in agreement with experiments.
