Bad vibrations: Exposure-response between rock drilling and vibration sensitivity at the fingertips
This study, conducted at the National Institute of Occupational Health in Norway, delves into the occupational health risks faced by workers exposed to vibration from handheld power tools. The research, led by Thomas Clemm as part of his PhD work at the University of Oslo addresses the limited understanding of dose-response mechanisms for neurological ...

Mine‐water immersion tests reveal pronounced coal weakening (vs. minor concrete degradation), identifying coal pillars as the stability‐limiting component in composite dams. A coupled FEINN framework quantifies extreme‐pressure stability and ranks multi‐parameter designs via a normalized multi‐indicator scheme, enabling optimized dam configuration for ...

A stress wave propagation model for coal‐rock combinations under in situ stress was established. Taking a coal mine in Huainan, China as the engineering background, isotropic and anisotropic numerical models were constructed. Field engineering practices were carried out to verify the reliability of the conclusions.

Evaluation of Drillability of the Mahu Conglomerate Formation in Xinjiang, China
This graphical abstract illustrates the workflow for developing an optimized prediction model using measurement while drilling (MWD) data. A total of 90 MWD cases are divided into a training set (80%) and a test set (20%). Four logging‐while‐drilling parameters—compensation density, acoustic travel time, resistivity, and neutron porosity—are selected ...

This study reports the exceptional preservation of the Eocene freshwater bivalve Batissa sitakaraensis from Hokkaido, Japan. Multimodal analyses reveal that both the aragonitic shell mineralogy and the delicate organic periostracum retain their original structural and chemical characteristics after millions of years.
