Vibration of Piled Rocks—Which Rock Can Be Removed?

2020
To identify rocks which can be taken from rock-mound without disturbing stability of other rocks, vibration characteristics of rocks in mound were investigated by measuring vibration of each rock in an artificial mound. A mound of sand stone rocks of randomly-shaped, length 30–40 cm was constructed on the ground and was subjected by artificial ...

Coupled Rocking and Translating Vibrations of a Buried Foundation

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1974
The plane strain model of a rigid building foundation embedded below the surface of an elastic half space is treated. The foundation is assumed to be vibrating freely with arbitrary transient time-dependences U(t) and V(t) in the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively, and to be rocking about its mass center with magnitude Ω(t).

Blast vibration monitoring of rock excavations

Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1977
Vibration monitoring of blasting for rock excavation has been undertaken at a number of large hydroelectric and other construction sites in Canada. This paper presents the relationships between vibration measurements and intensity of blasting at different project sites.

Simulation on Vibration Characteristics of Fractured Rock

Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 2015
Modal analysis theory of rock is proposed and the modeling of vibration characteristics of fractured rock is undertaken in this study. The modeling includes two aspects, namely, the natural frequency of rock with a single fracture and the crack expansion energy of rock with multiple fractures. Also, the results of numerical analysis are presented. Four

Rocking Vibration of Rigid Ring Foundations

Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 1987
A comprehensive analysis is made of the harmonic rocking response of massless, rigid, ring foundations supported at the surface of a homogeneous elastic half‐space. The parameters considered include the thickness‐to‐radius ratio for the ring, the frequency of the exciting force and the resulting steady state response, and Poisson's ratio for the ...

Coupled vibration and parameter sensitivity analysis of rocking-mass vibrating gyroscopes

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2009
Vibrating beam gyroscopes are widely used to measure the angle or the rate of rotation of many mechanical systems. The vibration and parameters sensitivity analyses of a specific type of vibrating beam gyroscope namely rocking-mass gyroscopes are presented in this paper.

Rock Drill Handle Vibration: Measurement And Hazard Estimation

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1994
Abstract The handle vibration of a typical pneumatic jack-leg rock drill has been measured under common operating conditions. The dominant component acceleration was recorded in the direction of the percussion axis, and was unaffected by drill height, hand grip or operator. The handle vibration increased at the percussion frequency when drilling with

Rock vibration and finite oil recovery

Fluid Dynamics, 1992
Basic information concerning the possibility of mechanical stimulation of an oil reservoir is presented. The positive effect of vibration on the oil fraction in the output of flooded wells is demonstrated. The effect is attributed to the restoration of permeability for dispersed oil as a result of drop clusterization or breakdown.

Effect of Rock Trenching Vibrations on Nearby Structures

Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, 2008
Trenching to install deep gravity sewers and drains in medium-to high-strength rock requires large and heavy rock trenchers that produce high levels of vibrations that may affect the structural integrity of nearby utilities and buildings. Although not every vibration causes damage, owners often believe that their structures have been harmed by rock ...
