Delivery of Islatravir via High Drug‐Load, Long‐acting Microarray Patches for the Prevention or Treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
Islatravir‐loaded dissolving microarray patches (MAPs) provide a minimally invasive, long‐acting solution for HIV‐1 prevention and treatment. In rats, sustained islatravir delivery lasts up to three months, while in minipigs, efficacious plasma levels are detected for six days.

A Nonparametric Bayesian Approach to Uncovering Rat Hippocampal Population Codes During Spatial Navigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Rodent hippocampal population codes represent important spatial information about the environment during navigation. Several computational methods have been developed to uncover the neural representation of spatial topology embedded in rodent hippocampal

Rodent control to fight Lassa fever: Evaluation and lessons learned from a 4-year study in Upper Guinea

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2018
Lassa fever is a viral haemorrhagic fever caused by an arenavirus. The disease is endemic in West African countries, including Guinea. The rodents Mastomys natalensis and Mastomys erythroleucus have been identified as Lassa virus reservoirs in Guinea. In

Synthetic Bilirubin‐Based Nanomedicine Protects Against Renal Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury Through Antioxidant and Immune‐Modulating Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
BX‐001N, a polyethylene glycol‐conjugated bilirubin 3α nanoparticle, is the first GMP‐grade, synthetic bilirubin‐based nanomedicine. It effectively attenuates acute renal injury, facilitates subacute renal recovery, and suppresses chronic fibrosis after renal ischemia/reperfusion injury via anti‐oxidant and immune‐modulating activity.

Lumbosacral plexus of the mongolian gerbil(Meriones unguiculatus Milne-Edwards, 1867)

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2016
The Mongolian gerbil, belonging to the Muridae family, is characterized as an economic asset in the pet market due to its easy management. Current research analyzes and describes the origin of the nerves that make up the lumbosacral plexus in the species,

Role of rodents in transmission of Salmonella and Campylobacter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Salmonella and Campylobacter are generally regarded as the most important food-borne pathogens in the world. Reduction or elimination of these pathogens in the first part of the food chain (on the farm) is important to prevent disease among consumers of ...

Highly sensitive and specific Alu-based quantification of human cells among rodent cells

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Alu elements are primate-specific short interspersed elements (SINEs), over 1 million copies of which are present in the human genome; thus, Alu elements are useful targets for detecting human cells.

Dexamethasone Delivery via Amphiphilic, Low‐swelling Hydrogels Treats Postoperative Inflammation in Cervical Spine Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
DexaPatch, an implantable, low‐swelling amphiphilic hydrogel system containing dexamethasone‐PLGA microparticles, is developed and characterized for sustained local steroid release to reduce postoperative inflammation in tight surgical spaces. DexaPatch significantly reduces postoperative edema and fibrosis in a rabbit model of anterior spinal surgery,

Effects of an Anti-Fertility Product on Reproductive Structures of Common Vole Males and Residues of Compounds

open access: yesBiology
Some rodent species cause significant damage to agriculture and forestry, and some can transmit pathogens to humans and livestock. The common vole (Microtus arvalis) is widespread in Europe, and its population outbreaks have resulted in massive crop loss.
