Rodent allergens play a significant role in the pathogenesis of asthma and allergic rhinitis, and are potent causes of acute and chronic symptoms. This has long been apparent in occupational settings, particularly in the laboratory, but has been most recently studied and found to be important in home environments. These allergens have been suggested as

Although rodent pets constitute only a small percentage of pets seen in practice, owners of rodents are as dedicated to those pets as are other owners to the more common dogs and cats. Rodents make excellent pets, with low space, feeding, and economic requirements.

Hystricomorph Rodent Analgesia
Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice, 2023Limited information on the analgesic efficacy and safety of even clinically commonly used analgesic drugs in guinea pigs and chinchillas is available. Abstract This chapter provides key questions (and answers) in urban pest management, focusing on rodents. Rats and mice are among the most common vertebrate pests found in urban environments, specifically in buildings. They are troublesome because they are well-adapted to live alongside people but destroy or contaminate food products (such as ...

The etiology of aganglionosis of the bowel remains controversial. Initial embryological studies in chicks, mice, and humans suggested the defect was in the migratory capacity of the vagal neural crest cells. This traditional theory has recently been challenged by the demonstration of a defect in the local microenvironment and the suggestion that neural

This chapter describes quantitative methods for isolating and culturing rodent osteoclasts on dentine, a bone-like, resorbable substrate. These techniques generate relatively large numbers of osteoclasts and allow the key processes of osteoclast formation and activation to be studied independently.
