Implementing IT in engineering education [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
Nowadays in the multicultural workplace engineers need both hard skills and soft skills. They need to be good communicators, as they need to collaborate with others, convince their opponents when negotiating in order to gain benefit for a company and ...

Effect of the Surface on the Electron Quantum Size Levels and Electron g-Factor in Spherical Semiconductor Nanocrystals

open access: yes, 2002
The structure of the electron quantum size levels in spherical nanocrystals is studied in the framework of an eight--band effective mass model at zero and weak magnetic fields.

Ground state of the holes localized in II-VI quantum dots with Gaussian potential profiles

open access: yes, 2016
We report on the theoretical study of the hole states in II-IV quantum dots of a spherical and ellipsoidal shape, described by a smooth potential confinement profiles, that can be modelled by a Gaussian functions in all three dimensions.

On the strong difference in reactivity of acyclic and cyclic diazodiketones with thioketones: experimental results and quantum-chemical interpretation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of acyclic 2-diazo-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds (DDC) and thioketones preferably occurs with Z,Econformers and leads to the formation of transient thiocarbonyl ylides in two stages.

Ligand‐driven modulation of chaperone–cochaperone networks shapes proteostasis outcomes

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Protein homeostasis depends on a delicate interplay between folding and degradation, orchestrated by molecular chaperones. Among them, Hsp90 is a central hub, regulating nearly 10% of the proteome through ATP‐driven conformational cycles and selective interactions with cochaperones.

Microplastic in Danish Soils—Combining Extraction and Infrared Spectroscopy Prediction Methods

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, Volume 77, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
ABSTRACT Microplastic (MP) pollution presents a considerable challenge to soil ecosystems, yet the local‐scale presence and concentration of MP in soils remain poorly understood. This is partly because traditional extraction methods are time‐consuming, and MP concentrations vary widely due to factors such as local exposure levels and soil properties ...

Molecular insights into electroreceptor ribbon synapses from differential gene expression in sturgeon lateral line organs

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 248, Issue 5, Page 784-805, May 2026.
The expression of various genes involved in synapse development, stability and/or function was studied in developing mechanosensory neuromasts and electrosensory ampullary organs in sterlet sturgeon. Most were shared, including Slc17a8, Slc1a3 and Nrxn3, but Cbln18 was neuromast‐restricted and Tulp1 was ampullary organ‐restricted.
