Determination of Rogowski Coil Constant

2006 International Conference on Applied Electronics, 2006
Method of determination of Rogowski coil (RC) constant at 50 Hz frequency is described in the article. The RC constant determining dependence between output voltage and measured current is checked and also a phase displacement of these two quantities is measured. Analysis of measurement uncertainties is also presented.

50 Hz current measurements with Rogowski coils

The applicability of Rogowski coils for high precision measurements of 50 Hz currents is studied. In the set-up, Rogowski coils serve as current sensors and the amplitude and phase are determined with a sampling voltmeter. Another measurement channel enables current ratio and electrical power measurements.

High Frequency Rogowski Coil Response Characteristics

The high frequency response characteristics of differentiating and self-integrating Rogowski coils have been calculated for arbitrary values of the coil terminating resistance assuming Ampere's law to be valid. Effects due to a reactive terminating impedance are also discussed.
