It's Complicated: How Sex, Family, and Season Affect Growth of a Sexually Size Dimorphic Spider

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Extreme female‐biased sexual size dimorphism (SSD) in Nephilingis cruentata emerges when male and female growth trajectories diverge mid‐development. AMPK‐mediated prevention of vascular dysfunction with metformin: Experimental and population‐based evidence

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 17, Page 5389-5406, September 2026.
Angiotensin II induces vascular inflammation, senescence, extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation and endothelial dysfunction, thus impairing SK+/IK+ channel function and reducing endothelial‐dependent hyperpolarisation (EDH). Metformin activates AMPK, increasing SK+/IK+ channel function and restoring vasorelaxation.
