The lexical representation of English verbs of action. Complex predicates and structures

open access: yesRevista de Lingüística y Lenguas Aplicadas, 2019
This article aims at proposing a lexical representation for a set of English verbs of action. The analysis is carried out on the grounds of Role and Reference Grammar (RRG) and includes aspects like Aktionsart type, macrorole and syntactic function ...

VERBAL CLITICS IN ROLE AND REFERENCE GRAMMAR

open access: yesHumanities & Social Sciences Reviews, 2021
Purpose of the study: The present study analyses the interplay of semantics, syntax and pragmatics in Pashto clauses containing verbal clitics (VC) in the light of the Role and Reference framework. It particularly focuses on the relational aspect of the clause.

Verbs as Central Elements in Role and Reference Grammar and Dependency Grammar and Valency Theories

open access: yesAFRICAN JOURNAL OF APPLIED RESEARCH, 2023
Purpose: The study takes into consideration the role a verb plays in the English language, how it has been described by the traditional grammar approach, the deficiencies in their definitions, and a critical look at how verbs play the central roles in two grammatical theories: Role and Reference Grammar as well as Dependency Grammar and Valency. ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Complex structures in Role and Reference Grammar : some problematic cases

open access: yesJournal of English Studies, 2002
This paper addresses the issue of complex structures in the framework of Role and Reference Grammar (Van Valin and LaPolla, 1997). These authors establish an explicit and clear-cut typology of complex constructions for English highlighting the role of ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...
