Constant roll and primordial black holes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2019
The constant-roll inflation with small positive value of the constant-roll parameter β≡ (ϕ̇)/(Hϕ̇)=const. has been known to produce a slightly red-tilted curvature power spectrum compatible with the current observational constraints.

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Roll-to-roll manufacturing of integrated immunodetection sensors.

open access: yesACS Sensors, 2020
Lack of functional integration and high manufacturing costs have been identified as major challenges in commercialization of point-of-care devices. In this study, roll-to-roll (R2R) fabrication process was developed for large-scale manufacturing of ...

Ultrasonic roll bite measurements in cold rolling – Roll stress and deformation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Materials Processing Technology, 2017
In cold rolling of thin metal strip, contact conditions between the work rolls and the strip are of great importance: roll deformations and their effect on strip thickness variation may lead to strip flatness defects and thickness inhomogeneity. To control the process, several online measurements are usually carried out such as the rolling load ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Achieving a corrosion-resistant Mg-Ca lean alloy by solidification control to sequester parts-per-million-level Fe impurity

open access: yesnpj Materials Degradation
The influence of solidification cooling rate on the microstructure, particularly Fe-rich particles, in a Mg-0.1Ca (wt%) alloy is studied, as well as the corresponding effect on the corrosion resistance. It is revealed that a slow cooling rate (

Higher Order Slow-Roll Predictions for Inflation

open access: yes, 2005
We study the WKB approximation beyond leading order for cosmological perturbations during inflation. To first order in the slow-roll parameters, we show that an improved WKB approximation leads to analytical results agreeing to within 0.1% with the ...

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Anisotropic Constant-roll Inflation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We study constant-roll inflation in the presence of a gauge field coupled to an inflaton. By imposing the constant anisotropy condition, we find new exact anisotropic constant-roll inflationary solutions which include anisotropic power-law inflation as a

Synthesis of a Novel Thermoresponsive S53P4 Bioactive Glass Extract–Poloxamer 407 Injectable Hydrogels: Assessment of Biocompatibility and Antimicrobial Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates innovative thermoreversible hydrogels derived from S53P4 bioactive glass extracts to aid in the healing of infected diabetic foot wounds. These injectable gels, which gel at body temperature, release beneficial ions and remain stable over time.
