Instrumentation of the 40mm-projectile for roll rate and roll angle estimation

2016 IEEE 2nd International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI), 2016
In this paper, the instrumentation of a 40mm projectile is presented based on low-cost off-the-shelf (LCOTS) components taking a significant step to make projectiles smarter. Based on the sensor data, the current state-of-the-art regarding the estimation of the roll rate as well as the roll angle is presented and discussed in terms of measurement ...

Estimation of vehicle roll angle

2010 4th International Symposium on Communications, Control and Signal Processing (ISCCSP), 2010
In modern vehicles a large number of signal measurements related to vehicle dynamics is available. While hard cost constraints in the automotive industry imply that a single control system is equipped with a minimal number of sensors, the combination of sensors from different systems can be used to establish new information via signal processing.

Vehicle roll angle and bank angle estimation using FIR filtering

2017 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing (ICICIP), 2017
This paper proposes a novel estimation method using finite impulse response (FIR) filter for the vehicle roll and bank angles. A vehicle model was constructed using the bicycle model and roll motion model and has parameter uncertainties. The proposed method ensures robust to vehicle parameter uncertainties and has no risk of divergence.

In-flight roll angle estimation for a guided high spin projectile

2016 IEEE Sensors Applications Symposium (SAS), 2016
The real time roll angle estimation of a 40 mm high spin projectile is presented. The on-board instrumentation, the associated system modeling and the algorithm used to compute this estimation of the roll angle are described. The precision of the method is evaluated in laboratory and then free flight tests with a roll rate around 700 Hz are carried out

Lateral acceleration compensation of a vehicle based on roll angle estimation

2010 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications, 2010
This paper demonstrates a method for compensating the gravity component of the lateral acceleration through the estimation of the roll angle. The lateral acceleration has a direct influence on the road disturbance and suspension motion by driver's steering input.
