Roll damping decay of a FPSO with bilge keel

Ocean Engineering, 2014
The roll damping decay is investigated for a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO). For this purpose, a roll decay test of a middle section of FPSO with bilge keel is simulated by means of the numerical solution of the incompressible two-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations.

New Methodology in Analysis of Physical Properties and Roll Decay with Uncertainty Estimates for Surface-Ship Model Experiments

open access: closedDay 1 Wed, October 04, 2017, 2017
Physical properties and roll decay of David Taylor Model Basin (DTMB) Model 5720, a 23rd scale free running model of the research vessel (R/V) Melville, are documented with uncertainty estimates. Properties include mass, vertical center of gravity (VCG),

Numerical Investigation of the Roll Decay of a Container Ship Moving With Forward Speed in Calm Water

Volume 2: CFD and FSI, 2019
In the present paper the roll damping decay is investigated for the KRISO Container Ship in various working conditions. For this purpose flow is simulated by solving numerically the unsteady three dimensional equations of fluid motion in which closure ...

An Exponential Decay Model for Decaying of Contact Patch Friction Steering Moment with Rolling Speed

Tire Science And Technology
ABSTRACT Steering torque is a very important quantity for the driver's response. In fact, it gives the driver an idea of the road adherence condition during driving. Several models have been developed to simulate shear forces at the contact patch; most of them are based on semi-empirical tire models that account for slip and slip angles.

Estimation of Nonlinear Ship Roll Damping from Free-Decay Data

Journal of Ship Research, 1985
A common method of assessing the damping present in ship rolling motion is to perform a free-decay experiment, in which, in the absence of waves, the ship is given an initial roll amplitude and then released. By processing the resulting decaying, oscillatory trace it is possible to estimate quantitatively the degree of damping, even when this is ...

Expected Time Value Decay of Options: Implications for Put‐Rolling Strategies

Financial Review, 2008
AbstractAssuming the underlying asset price remains constant, previous studies show that the time value of an option decays gradually at a rate that accelerates over time and peaks at the expiration date. Thus, a significant portion of time value is lost in the four weeks leading up to expiration.
