Numerical Investigation of Motion Response of the Tanker at Varying Vertical Center of Gravities
The vertical center of gravity (VCG) has a significant impact on the roll motion response of a surface ship, particularly oil tankers based on the oil level in the tanker after discharging oil at several stations or positional changes, such as changes in

Machine Learning for Short-Term Prediction of Ship Motion Combined with Wave Input
There is a response relationship between wave and ship motion. Based on the LSTM neural network, the mapping relationship between the wave elevation and ship roll motion is established. The wave elevation and ship motion duration data obtained by the CFD

Numerical calculation and mechanical mechanism analysis of ship parametric rolling
[Objective] The parametric rolling is a special instability phenomenon of ship in the wave. The current research proves that the change of the stability parameter when the wave passes through the hull is the reason for the rolling motion of the hull, but ...

Advancing Stroke Clinical Trials Using Community Engagement and Implementation Science Approaches
ABSTRACT Stroke clinical trials are essential for advancing stroke care but can face challenges with recruitment, retention, clinical relevance, and translation into real‐world practice. We propose that integrating community engagement and implementation science approaches into stroke trials can help address these needs.

Nonlinear roll damping of a barge with and without liquid cargo in spherical tanks
Damping plays a significant role on the maximum amplitude of a vessel's roll motion, in particular near the resonant frequency. It is a common practice to predict roll damping using a linear radiation–diffraction code and add that to a linearized viscous

Gravity‐Dependent Modulation of Downbeat Nystagmus: Insights From Velocity‐Storage Dysfunction
ABSTRACT Objective Downbeat nystagmus varies with head position, a phenomenon termed gravity‐dependent modulation. We aimed to clarify its mechanism using a velocity‐storage model. Methods In 10 patients with downbeat nystagmus due to cerebellar disorders, we recorded eye movements at different pitch‐ and roll‐axis head positions.

Optimal Control of DTMB 5415 Combatant Roll Motion with Active Fins
© 2020 IEEE.This paper examines control of roll motion of the TDMB 5415 Combatant Warship. For controlling the roll motion, Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) Based State-Feedback $\mathrm{H}_{\infty}$ Optimal Control is used with Active Roll Fin Stabilizer (

Almost rolling motion: An investigation of rolling grooved cylinders [PDF]
We examine the dynamics of cylinders that are grooved to form N teeth for rolling motion down an inclined plane. The grooved cylinders are experimentally found to reach a terminal velocity. This result can be explained by the inclusion of inelastic processes which occur whenever a tooth hits the surface.
