Cut Stress Ring to Measure Residual Stress of Roll
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Choose ductile cast iron and chilled cast iron, bainitic cast iron three kind of roll materials, respectively, after different heat treatment process, on the roll body interception stress ring specimen, determine the roll internal residual stress. Theoretically proved that the stress ring specimen stress calculation formula is derived.

THERMAL STRESSES OF ROTATING ROLLS IN ROLLING PROCESSING
Journal of Thermal Stresses, 1989In a modern rolling mill, proper roll cooling has been identified as a critical factor in the problems of excessive roll wear and poor surface finish of rolled product. In this paper, an analytical solution to determine the cyclic stresses produced in the roll is developed.

A photoelastic examination of the stresses in rolls during rolling
Journal of Strain Analysis, 1969Abstract The paper describes some experiments to determine the stress distribution in rolls during the rolling of pure lead. The rolls were made from a hard transparent resin and the isochromatics and isoclinics were recorded whilst rolling was in progress. From these recordings the stress distributions were obtained.

Analysis on Stress Characteristics of Rolling Body of Rolling Dryer
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Rolling dryer is one kind of dryer device with large output. The characteristic of rolling body has great influence on the output of dryer. In the paper, with the finite element method, the stress distribution of body, bolt hole, man hole and modes of rolling body are obtained by static stress and modal analysis and study of acting loads on rolling ...

The temperature and stress fields developing in rolls during hot rolling
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2004Abstract The authors review the existing literature on the temperature field due to a moving heat source/sink on the surface of a roll. Either questionable results or solutions requiring extremely extensive numerical calculations can be found. The application of the solution for the temperature field of a moving heat source as an analytical and ...

Analysis of Residual Stresses in Rolling Mill Rolls
1989Modern rolling industry requires the use of integrated processes that demand better performances and a higher-reliability of rolling mill rolls. That is the reason why work rolls or back-up, solid or compound, have steel grades more and more alloyed and undergo harder thermal treatments to meet users requirements. Therefore, stresses appear that always

Residual stresses in rolling contact
Journal of Strain Analysis, 1969The paper reports an experimental investigation into the residual strsses induced into cylndrical discs by the action of rolling-contact loads sufficiently high to cause some plastic deformation in the near-surface layers. A general method is first described for finding both circumferential and axial components of residual stress in cylindrical ...

A study on residual stresses in rolling
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 1997Determination of residual stresses in rolled material is important for the design of product and process. Different approaches for determining them and difficulties associated with the methods are discussed. A simplified approach to find the longitudinal residual stress (stress in the direction of rolling) is proposed.
