Fault detection of rolling bearing based on principal component analysis and empirical mode decomposition

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2020
For the problem of inconsistent quantitative standards for running status analysis of rolling bearings, this paper uses principal component analysis (PCA) to extract a new index F, which is the joint parameters of time domain and frequency domain, and by

New detection method for rolling element and bearing defects [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Instrument for detecting defects in rolling elements of bearings is described. Detection depends on rate at which rolling elements impact defect and establishes envelope amplitude of ball resonant frequency.

Self‐Assembling Peptide Hydrogels Support Stromal Vascular Fraction Viability to Promote In Vivo Nerve Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) may enhance nerve repair, especially when delivered in a self‐assembling peptide hydrogel (SAPH). In vitro, softer SAPH increased neuronal explant outgrowth and supported greater SVF viability and proliferation. In a rat sciatic defect, SVF in an optimized SAPH produced motor and sensory recovery equivalent to autograft ...

Online Bearing Remaining Useful Life Prediction Based on a Novel Degradation Indicator and Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yes, 2018
In industrial applications, nearly half the failures of motors are caused by the degradation of rolling element bearings (REBs). Therefore, accurately estimating the remaining useful life (RUL) for REBs are of crucial importance to ensure the reliability

Experimental rig for measuring lubricant film thickness in rolling bearings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Electrical capacitance has been applied in the past for measuring the lubricant film thickness in rolling element bearings. The main difficulty arises from the fact that the measured capacitance is a combination of the capacitances of many rolling ...

Silicon nitride used as a rolling-element bearing material [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Rolling-element fatigue tests were conducted with hot-pressed silicon nitride to determine its ability to withstand concentrated contacts in rolling-element bearings. If hot-pressed silicon nitride is used for both balls and races, attention must be paid

Ti6Al4V‐Bioglass‐Copper Composites for Load‐Bearing Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have designed and manufactured a novel Ti64‐based composite by adding 45S5 bioglass (BG) and copper (Cu). Adding BG on titanium improves wear resistance and biocompatibility, whereas Cu addition improves mechanical strength while providing inherent lifelong bacterial resistance.
